Eight children killed in a shooting in Louisiana, police say : NPR

Eight children were killed and two other people were shot during a weekend shooting in northwest Louisiana following a domestic dispute, Shreveport police said Sunday.
The adult suspect is dead, authorities said. His name has not been released.
The children killed were between the ages of one and 14.
Cpl. Christopher Bordelon said several of the victims were related to the suspect. “We know that some of the children inside were his descendants,” he said.
The suspect allegedly stole a car early Sunday morning and led police on a chase, which ended when Shreveport police fired their weapons at the suspect. Louisiana State Police are investigating the officer-involved shooting.
Mayor Tom Arceneaux said the shooting shook the community about 200 miles east of Dallas.
“It’s a tragic situation, maybe the worst tragic situation we’ve ever had in Shreveport,” Arceneaux said.
This is a developing story.
