Eruption of clashes, international response

Sectal fights broke out in Sweida last week after a wave of kidnappings, leading to clashes between local Bedouin tribes, residents of Druze of Sweida and security forces with Damascus, who made hundreds of dead.

The Syrian presidency announced on Saturday an immediate ceasefire, supported by Turkey, Jordan and other neighboring countries, following Israeli strikes on Damascus and government forces in southern Syria.

The community of Druze of Israel has organized demonstrations through northern Israel in response to violence, calling for the Israeli government and other international organizations to intervene. In addition, a group of Israeli Druze managed to illegally cross Syria on Friday evening in solidarity with their Syrian brothers, and have since been returned to Israeli territory by the FDI.

“If you want to help Sweida, demonstrations on the border are not the way,” said Druze’s superior officers, according to the radio army. “The FDI is not supposed to face the Israeli offenders; It distracts and divert attention to bad places. We understand the pain of the community and want to help and help, but to continue this way performs the opposite effect. ”
