April 20—A Texas man was charged with two counts of drug trafficking Friday after Priceville police found methamphetamine, marijuana and synthetic marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop on Point Mallard Parkway, according to an officer’s affidavit.

Shannon Dierre Osteen, 54, of Dallas, was also charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, prohibiting certain persons from possessing a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. Records show he was being held in the Morgan County Jail with a total bond of $450,300.

Police stopped a white Toyota Tundra driven by Osteen on Point Mallard Parkway near Marsha Avenue. When officers approached the passenger side, they said they smelled an “overpowering” odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. According to the affidavit, Osteen was found in possession of an ounce of marijuana and a pistol.

“During a casual conversation, Osteen admitted to having methamphetamine and marijuana inside the vehicle,” the affidavit states. “A probable cause search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 1.1 pounds of methamphetamine, 0.55 pounds of marijuana, and 5.29 ounces of synthetic marijuana, as well as scales and other items consistent with drug trafficking.”

Police also said Osteen possessed a .35 caliber pistol. The affidavit said he was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to prior convictions in Michigan for delivery or manufacture of less than 50 grams of a controlled substance, assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police officer and a weapons offense.
