Federal agents raided several locations in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Tuesday as part of ongoing fraud investigations, including at the infamous corruption-accused daycare center, the Quality Learning Center, formerly known as the “Quality Learning Center,” according to officials.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed the report by Fox News congressional correspondent Bill Melugin, who said the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) raided more than 20 sites, many of which were businesses linked to Somalia. Melugin said the searches followed the court’s approval of 22 search warrants relating to alleged social services fraud, not illegal immigration. Earlier this year, Minnesota was rocked by civil unrest in response to federal immigration control measures, which resulted in the deaths of two citizens after clashes with law enforcement.

“Today, the FBI and federal, state and local law enforcement agencies are involved in court-authorized law enforcement activities as part of an ongoing fraud investigation,” a Justice Department spokesperson told the Daily Caller.

The investigations and enhanced immigration enforcement in Minnesota followed allegations by federal prosecutors in December that about $9 billion was stolen from Medicaid in the state.

The issue of social services fraud in Minnesota gained national attention in late December when independent journalist Nick Shirley posted a viral video accusing and confronting businesses and daycares, often linked to Somalia, that he said were linked to the theft of government aid.

A highlight of Shirley’s video was the Quality Learning Center, then known as the “Quality Learning Center,” whose misspelled sign hung above a daycare center that Shirley said appeared to have no children present at midday. The center was one of the sites raided, Melugin said.

The Daily Caller previously reported that the Somali government and local terrorist group Al-Shabab may play a significant role in the fraud by trafficking people into the United States, with millions of U.S. dollars leaving the United States to allegedly be exchanged into the hands of Al-Shabab before being laundered and then brought to Somalia.

The Quality Learning Center did not respond to The Daily Caller’s request for comment.
