There were plenty of trends on the 2026 Met Gala red carpet that were worth discussing, but the one we can’t stop thinking about the most? Blurred lips. It’s a soft, diffused take on traditional lipstick that’s both natural and intentional. Makeup artist Nina Park inspired the trend, which blurs semi-matte lips to give it a romantic, just-kissed look.

On this first Monday in May, attendees embraced bright, dark colors and lots of drama to match this year’s Fashion Is Art dress code. But even though the outfits varied, the blurred lip look remained a constant. And no matter what the stars wore, their blurred lipstick brought a soft feel to their look.

Best of all, the blurred lip trend can be easily replicated at home. You can follow our full tutorial below, but the idea is basically to put on your favorite matte lipstick and not worry about staying within the lines.

Celebrities like Zoë Kravitz, Rosé, and Anna Weyant are all great examples of how to implement this trend. Keep scrolling for all the lipstick inspiration you’ll need this spring.

Zoë Kravitz showed off a blurred lip in a deeper wine tone. Maybe you didn’t notice it right away because you were too focused on whether or not she was going to debut the engagement ring or on her Saint Laurent dress, but it’s worth taking a closer look now. Paired with the actor and filmmaker’s lace dress and gorgeous braided updo, this soft lip adds the perfect finishing touch to her look.

Of course, it’s no surprise that Kravitz has blurred lips considering Nina Park did the star’s makeup herself for the event. “For Zoë’s Met look, I wanted it to be fresh and gently romantic,” Park said via press release. “The cheeks have a natural color that restores warmth to the face, and the lip is [L’Oréal Paris] Color Riche Satin lipstick in 762 Divine Wine that stays tone-on-tone with the skin. The lashes are defined but still soft, just enough to frame the look without taking away the freshness of the rest.

To keep the lips looking fresh and toned, Park lightly layered the lipstick so that it stayed close to Kravitz’s natural tone but “just a little bit more alive.” According to the expert, “it adds color without taking over, so everything still looks effortless.”
