Mexico sees mass migration as way to reclaim U.S. territory

America’s adversaries are using the country’s generous immigration policies as a weapon against the nation, says conservative pundit Peter Schweizer, whose latest book delves into birth tourism and citizenship exploitation.

Mexico, in particular, views the arrival of its citizens in the United States as a “reconquest of territory” that the United States has claimed through arms or payments, Mr. Schweizer, author of “The Invisible Coup,” told the Washington Times’ “Court Watch” podcast.

“Their view is that mass migration gives them the opportunity to extend their sovereignty to the United States and they are indeed doing that,” he said. “They are already subverting our sovereignty. »

Mr. Schweizer said the Supreme Court should consider the phenomenon of birthright tourism — traveling to another country to give birth and allowing the child to automatically have citizenship — as it weighs President Trump’s executive order to end birthright citizenship in cases where the parents are illegal immigrants or temporary visitors.

He explained that Chinese parents, in particular, exploit automatic citizenship by flying pregnant women to America to give birth.

“The Chinese Communist Party is encouraging members of the CCP elite to do this – imagine that,” said Mr. Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute.

His work on the issue was part of oral arguments before the Supreme Court last month, when attorney D. John Sauer told the justices that as many as 1.5 million babies could have been born to Chinese citizens.

The problem is a legal gray area. A foreign visitor is not prohibited from having a baby in the United States, but consular officers can deny visas and border agents can deny admission to women they suspect are coming solely to obtain U.S. citizenship for a child.

Mr. Schweizer said the Trump administration was taking the issue seriously.

“They are going after these birth tourism companies for visa fraud and people have already ended up in prison for that,” he said.

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. suggested during his oral argument last month that the motivations of women who came to the United States to give birth were irrelevant to the constitutional issues at stake in the trial.

“You agree that this has no impact on the legal analysis before us? said the chief justice.

Mr Schweizer said it would be a mistake for the court not to consider it.

“Our federal government has no idea how big the problem is. The Chinese themselves say it’s the numbers. It’s basically a suicide pact if we ignore them,” he said.

He said another problem is surrogacy, in which foreign parents pay an American person to carry a child, who is then eligible for American citizenship.

Mr. Schweizer told “Court Watch” that 107 Chinese surrogacy companies operate in Southern California.

He is surprised that California, known for its strict regulations, leaves this area largely free.

“It’s kind of crazy,” Mr. Schweizer said.

He noted that a Chinese billionaire, owner of a video game company and close to the CCP, has more than 100 children born to surrogate mothers.

“It’s not random. It’s very specific on the part of these elites,” he said.

Mr. Schweizer said it becomes a national security issue because the children, although U.S. citizens, are often raised outside the United States and have no loyalty to the nation but can vote and receive benefits.
