The Red Sox just lost a game in a way we have never seen before

There is an old dicton of Tim Kurkjian that baseball is the biggest game there is, because “each evening you go to the stadium, you could see something you have never seen before.”

For the thousands of fans who piled up in Citizens Bank Park on Monday evening to see the Philadelphia Phillies face the Boston Red Sox, this was certainly the case.

With the match knotted at 2-2 after nine rounds, the match went to the tenth. The Phillies held the Red Sox aimlessly at the top of the tenth, and came to beat at the bottom of the frame in the hope of sending fans of the happy hometown.

They did it, in the most unlikely way.

The Channel started with Brandon Marsh as an automatic “Ghost Runner” on the second goal. The Boston Jordan Hicks lifer walked Otto Kemp, then his first launch at Max Kepler was a cursor in the dirt that obtained by the recipient Carlos Narvaez, allowing both Marsh and Kemp to move forward.

Boston then chose to intentionally walk Kepler to load the bases of Edmundo Sosa, who had a pinch for Bryson Stott earlier in the game.
