Company Handling Gavin Newsom’s Diaper Boondoggle Has Link to First Partner Jennifer – RedState

California Governor Gavin Newsom beamed Friday as he announced his latest “affordable” initiative: Through a partnership with the nonprofit Baby2Baby, California hospitals will provide free diapers to parents of newborns.

Stop talking about cutting costs for families – DO IT!
The press release from the California governor’s office was absolutely delighted:
As Mother’s Day approaches, Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that the state is partnering with Baby2Baby, a leading national nonprofit headquartered in California, to launch a first-in-the-nation program to provide free diapers to all new babies born in California. Leveraging the state’s bulk purchasing power, this new effort known as Golden State Start will distribute high-quality, mass-produced diapers directly to families through participating hospitals throughout the state.
As part of a broader affordability strategy – including CalRx – the Newsom administration is also exploring opportunities to reduce the cost of diapers by challenging the high prices of major brands.
And the glossy press conference was over-the-top.

It’s ironic that the state that rushed to codify abortion in its constitution and provide $90 million in “emergency funding” for California Planned Parenthood now cares about what happens when a birth is authorized. Newsom is hungry to appear presidential and cover up the failure of his governance over the past eight years. He also takes every opportunity to try to beat President Donald Trump (CalRX? Seriously?!), who is traveling the country before the midterm elections to tout the benefits of his economic program.
So Newsom pretends he actually cares about affordability in one of the most expensive and overtaxed states in the Union. Now the governor has found another way to waste taxpayer dollars, one that he has less to play with thanks to the exodus of people who earn and pay taxes rather than relying on government largesse.
Media Research Center (MRC) Video Editor Brittany Hughes explained exactly how wasteful this program would be.
This looks cool. But wait.
400 diapers will last a family with a newborn for about five weeks.
The program will cost the state approx. $12.4 million this year alone.

This looks cool. But wait.
400 diapers will last a family with a newborn for about five weeks.
The program will cost the state approx. $12.4 million this year alone.
That money will be funneled through a company called Baby2Baby, which will then supply its branded diapers to 400 participating hospitals (California has more than 500 hospitals total).
This means that instead of lowering taxes and letting families keep their own money to buy necessities like diapers, California takes their money and moves it through a “nonprofit” that has overhead, and whose CEO made $240,000 in 2024, to provide a “free” service that is only available in certain locations, and that you could have purchased for much less.
Where have we seen this before? Oh, yes, with the California Cannabis Tax Fund shell game that CalDOGE exposed. As RedState reported:
Cannabis tax proceeds are supposed to be distributed through the California Department of Health Services (DHCS). However, DHCS has disconnected itself from this process, instead contracting with the Sierra Health Foundation Center, a 501(c)3 organization, which acts as “the state’s de facto bank for youth equity, prevention and financing.”
After the Sierra Health Foundation Center takes up to 20 percent of the “administrative fee,” it uses an application process to sub-grant the remaining funds to community organizations.
Of course, the so-called community organizations that received grants were just fronts for Democratic and progressive causes. Newsom loves doing this, and it seems like Baby2Baby is in a unique position to handle this latest mess.

But it goes further. Looking under the hood of this partnership with Baby2Baby is eye-opening to say the least. Norah Weinstein, co-CEO of Baby2Baby, is on the board of directors of the California Partners Project, one of Jennifer Siebel Newsom’s first partners. non-profit money laundering schemes.
It’s the resentment that keeps giving way.
Gavin Newsom just announced a brilliant new taxpayer-funded program offering free diapers to newborns leaving California hospitals and his administration is partnering with Baby2Baby with nearly $20 MILLION in public funds to make them.

There’s nothing Gavin Newsom can’t pull off.

Yet another conflict of interest that gets sidestepped because it’s Gavin and Jen. Peter B also does the math on this scheme, which he rightly considers “the height of government stupidity.”
Ok…most of you know that I used to work in the organic baby formula business, but what you don’t know is that I also dabbled in diapers.
I also know of this non-profit organization baby2baby and have had interactions with them before. I’ll leave that aside for now.
Let’s dive into this absolute scam… https://t.co/0ud0P9KtMi

Let’s dive into this absolute absurdity. Prepare to be shocked.
California is set to spend $20 million in taxpayer money to give 100,000 newborns 400 diapers each through Baby2Baby.
Do the math with me:
100,000 babies × 400 diapers = 40 million diapers
$20,000,000 ÷ 40,000,000 = $0.50 per layer!!!!!
Now, walk into any Costco in California and you can buy diapers of the same quality for .12 to .15 cents each!
That’s $48 to $60 for 400 diapers.
So the state pays 8-10 times more per diaper than an ordinary family buying in bulk.
They could have just handed each low-income new mom $100 in cash and told her to go to Costco. She would get more diapers, better ones if she wanted them, and still have money left over for formula, wipes, or whatever she actually needs.
But no…that wouldn’t allow Gavin and his connected “nonprofit” girls who run the show to cut ribbons, take pictures, do galas and befriend celebrities and brag about the program being “first in the country” while skimming their cut for “administration” and “partnerships.”
This is the height of government stupidity!!!
Spend a lot more money to feel and look good, instead of just trusting parents with their own money.
We don’t help babies. We are funding another non-profit government scam.
Mathematics doesn’t lie. The calculation of layers is brutal.
What a scam and what a joke!!!!!
We must ensure that these two corrupt men never come near the White House.
