Dodgers pitchers give up five home runs in loss to Nationals

The Dodger Stadium is the proud owner of the largest baseball circuits this season. The long -term trend may not be an anomaly.
On Saturday evening, the Dodgers and the Nationals of Washington combined for eight circuits, the most in a dodgers match this season, but only three came out of the bats.
The right-handed of the Dodgers, Dustin May, abandoned three of these circuits, all solo blows, in a 7-3 defeat against the Nationals. Andy Pages, Will Smith and Teoscar Hernández struck fifth, sixth and ninth round circuits, respectively.
In the fourth round, the national knock James Wood used its entire 6 -inch and 234 pound frames to launch a lead from May to break a goalless game. The pages only took his position in the central field when he followed the ball of Wood’s bat – he knew where he was heading.
The solo explosion of 451 feet gave the Nationals (32-45) an advance that they would not give up. The three -hole strike Luis García Jr. followed Wood with a home run.
“The solo circuits, they are zero, but they are solo circuits,” said May. “Go consecutive – that’s not what you want to see.”
To be an offense in the middle of the pack – ranked 18th in total in the points scored – the Nationals have fallen their muscles with their young stars. CJ Abrams reduced a two -point circuit in the seventh dodgers Jack Dreyer, his second in as many games.

Wood and Abrams were acquired by Juan Soto trade nationals with San Diego in 2022. The first prospects now represent the heart of the national range.
May gave up a home run in the sixth in Nathaniel Lowe – who also struck a circuit in the eighth round for her first multiple racing match. May abandoned five strokes, withdrew five years and walked two, launching six rounds for the third time in her last five departures.
Outside the pages, Smith and Hernández at home, the Dodgers (47-31) threatened to mark when Mookie Betts and Tommy Edman reached simple fifth. National launcher Jake Irvin, however, struck Freddie Freeman to end the threat. Irvin withdrew seven blows and did not work in 5 ⅓ sleeves.
“I have not been very good for some time,” said Freeman, who is knocking. 182 in his last 15 games. “By just trying to understand it,” he made a net [the] The last days, but still not clicking. »»
He continued: “The swing is still in Arizona, I think.”
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is not in disagreement with the evaluation of his first star goal. He said through conversations with Freeman, it is clear that he always tries to find a fix.
Freeman is still beating .322 on the season – Good for the seventh best in the major baseball league.
“He is certainly his most difficult critic, but I spoke to him several times, and he simply did not find something click, where he feels like him, since training in the spring, which is certainly long,” said Roberts. “But Freddie is going to be as honest as possible, and that will not prevent him from working.”
Eight circuits at the Dodger stadium are unusual, but a low humidity in Los Angeles could be a factor to help hardly hovering. Climate change researchers have even thought about the effect that warmer climates could have on Home Runs, with a study in 2023 in the American Meteorological Society Bulletin declaring that more than 500 circuits since 2010 could be credited to global warming.

“I just thought it was very good well -executed locations,” said Roberts about the Home Runs of Wood and Garcia. “But the air, as it starts to become a little warmer, the ball flies here.”
In the past six seasons, Chavez Ravine has ranked the first five at home five times. In the 43 games that the Dodgers played at home in 2025, there were an average of 3.39 circuits per game (146 circuits in total and 23 more than George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida).
Shohei Ohtani, who will make his second start of the season on Sunday afternoon, went 0 for 4 with two stick withdrawals. Roberts said that he “leaves the terminal open” for how long Ohtani was going to shed.
