Moral Sit-Ins and Capitol Hissy Fits

Happy Sunday, and welcome to the RedState Weekly Briefing — where we take a quick look at the week’s most viewed stories in case you missed any of them. What do you suppose caught people’s attention in yet another eventful week? Grab a cup of coffee (or something stronger if you’re so inclined) and sit down with this 21st-century Weekend Edition of your favorite (online) publication.
#1 – Mark Kelly Sets Internet Ablaze With Claim About Our Munitions, Hegseth’s Response Is Pure Fire — by Nick Arama
Kelly responded that it depended on how long the conflict was. Why is he even talking about that?
That had many people concerned about whether he was talking about things said in a classified briefing, and why he was saying things that might give our adversaries thoughts.
Then, too, whether it’s even true and why Democrats never seemed to have an issue pouring out weapons to Ukraine, when that wasn’t even an action we’re involved in. This is in support of our action to stop Iran’s nuclear threat.
People ripped into Kelly in response to Brennan’s tweet.

#2 – In Nashville, Capitol Tantrums Come With a Bill — and Tennessee Dems Just Received It — by Bob Hoge
The message: the House is not your personal protest space, and you don’t get to just turn it into another out-of-control, unhinged rally whenever the mood suits you.
Sexton’s letter on Tuesday put House Democratic Leader Karen Camper on notice that such shenanigans will not be tolerated. This is what Democrats think is normal behavior these days:
The letter cited several incidents, including:
- Interlocking arms in the well of the House
- Blocking aisles on the House floor
- Encouraging disruptions with protesters and attendees in the gallery
- The use of prohibited props and noisemakers
- “Flagrant disregard” for House rules
Sexton also alleged members distributed earplugs to another Democratic lawmaker during the demonstrations.

#3 – Gillibrand Thought Scott Turner Didn’t Know Homelessness – She Picked the Wrong Guy — by Ben Smith
The implication was clear: If you oppose the way homelessness is being handled, you must not understand what suffering looks like.
Turner interrupted her immediately.
“It’s happened in my family. Yes, ma’am.”
That was the moment.
Because Gillibrand clearly thought she was talking to someone detached from the issue. Someone who needed to be educated. Someone who had never seen homelessness up close.
But Turner already had — and he wasn’t speaking hypothetically.

#4 – Legend: Woketivist Lawmaker Stages ‘Moral Sit-In’ at DeSantis’ Office, Here’s What the Gov Did Next — by Sister Toldjah
A few hours after it started, and because of an unwillingness on Nixon’s part to leave, Gov. DeSantis had her arrested, and she was charged with trespassing. When the news broke on X of what happened, he responded in classic DeSantis fashion:
FAFO. https://t.co/9i9GI2kO8X
— Ron DeSantis (@RonDeSantis) May 15, 2026
Later, DeSantis tweeted that she deserved to be arrested, noting that “Our office isn’t a platform for this performative nonsense.”

#5 – Trump New Statement on Iran’s Nuclear Material Is Going to Freak Them Out — by Nick Arama
Now, this statement from Trump is likely to freak out the regime. They have to worry if it’s true and what else he might be watching. And I wonder if Trump is pulling something else on them here, to stampede them into moving things, so it’s easier for us to grab. We’ve seen him feint before during Operation Epic Fury. Or he may be trying to move them more toward complying with a peaceful deal.
Either way, the regime can’t be sitting easy on the question, and he intends to get the nuclear material. They know we have access to intelligence on all their leaders, so our intel is not a capability or power they want to underestimate.
