Bronny James generates excitement in Lakers’ loss to Clippers
Las Vegas – Even with all the sports dignitaries present and even if they looked at a kind of game of rivalry between the Lakers and the Clippers, the fans inside the Thomas & Mack Center were still mostly in love with Bronny James.
This is the kind of drawing power that James even had with his father, LeBron James, looking at his basic seats again. This is the kind of draw that James even had with Steve Ballmer, Tyronn Lue, JJ Redick and Rob Pelinka present.
Even with Austin Reaves, Deandre Ayton and Kawhi Leonard who watch, Bonny James was still a center of attention.
James had one of his best NBA summer league games, but it was the Clippers who came out in the lead in a 67-58 victory on Monday evening at Nevada Las Vegas.
James collected 17 points, five rebounds and five assists in 24 minutes and 17 seconds.
He had six for 10 on the field and three for five on a three -point beach.
And, yes, he was happy to have the support of his family and his teammates.
“It definitely gave me a little boost, seeing them encourage for me and my teammates,” said James. “It’s great to get into the gym with them.”
The night star was Clippers striker Jordan Miller, his 19 points and seven rebounds a great reason why the Clippers have a 3-0 sheet in the summer league.
His three points at the end of the fourth quarter gave the clippers an advance that they have never lost. He scored nine from the last 11 clippers points.
“As we did,” said Clippers assistant coach Jeremy Castleberry, who is the team’s summer league coach. “We did it. We did what we had to do, the second night on a back.
James started strong, pulling a three -point pointer to open the scoring. He added a stage of stage three to the second quarter, these two shots being part of his 12 points in the first half on the shooting of four for four.
He made a three points in the fourth quarter which equaled score 51-51.
“Yeah, I can see the growth, that’s for sure,” said James. “Honestly, I just have the impression that my confidence is increasing in the past year and a half. So I’m just going to grow up on this and keep my mind.”
The Lakers drew 34.4% just from the field, 30% of the three -point beach and 38.5% of the free throw line (five for 13). They also overturned the ball on 19 times.
Deputy coach of Lakers, Lindsey Harding, said that the team showed signs of “fatigue”, which she expected since it was their sixth summer game (they played three games at California Classic in San Francisco).
“It seemed like we didn’t have much pop,” said Harding, the Lakers Summer League coach.
But not James. He seemed to boost the whole game.
“Bonny came ready. He came ready. He had a spark,” said Harding. “You want these guys, especially him in this position and who he will be with us with the Lakers, when you have your minutes, go hard. Play until exhaustion, we will take you back and give you back. I thought he had done this today.
“He did an excellent job, even on the offensive side to find players, reading the pick-and-rolls. I think they had trouble keeping it and he did an excellent job on the defensive.”
But James was not the only one to excite fans.
The clippers, the recruit Yanic Konan Niederhauser, threw a bad dunk on Cole Swider in the third quarter, which put the crowd at his feet.
Niederhauser had another strong outing for the clippers with 10 points, two rebounds and two interceptions in 23 minutes.
