Ahead of tomorrow’s Bundesliga relegation play-off first leg against SC Paderborn, Dieter Hecking admitted a key name will be absent for both games.

“Patrick Wimmer won’t be able to play tomorrow – and probably not in the second leg either. He still feels something,” Hecking said in his press conference.

“I already told the team on Monday that we can only field 100 percent players. Kilian Fischer and Jonas Wind could be available on Monday,” he added.

Regarding the game itself, Hecking seems to suggest that the Autostadt club have been planning it for some time and clearly want to implement a certain game plan.

“We said it from day one: if we can play in the relegation play-offs, that’s a success. If we had told you that nine weeks ago, you would have asked: how is this supposed to work?

“We won these relegation play-offs, just like Paderborn. We want to focus on ourselves and do our job well, with and without the ball.

“If we can succeed against Bayern, who are certainly versatile, we will also do it against Paderborn. It’s about showing the same discipline and covering the same ground,” he explained.
