AI video is invading YouTube Shorts and Google Photos starting today

Google follows the recent promises to add more generative AI features to its photo and video products. On YouTube, Google deploys the first wave of generative video for YouTube shorts, but even if you are not a youtuber, you will soon be exposed to more IA videos. Google Photos, which is integrated into practically all Android phones on the market, also obtains AI video generation capacities. In both cases, the features are currently based on the older VEO 2 model, and not the most competent VEO 3 which has set up on the Internet since its announcement at E / S in May.
The CEO of YouTube, Neal Mohan, confirmed earlier this summer that the company planned to add a generative AI to creator tools for YouTube shorts. There were already tools to generate backgrounds for videos, but the next phase will involve creating new video elements from a text prompt.
From today, creators will be able to use a photo as a base for a new generative video on AI. YouTube also promises a collection of easily applied generative effects, which will be accessible from the short camera. There is also a new AI game center which, according to the company, will house all of its AI tools, as well as suggested examples and prompts to help people pump the content of AI.
VEO 2 videos are not as realistic as the VEO 3 clips, but an upgrade is planned.
Until now, all youtube AI video features work on the Veo 2. model. The plan is always to move to Veo 3 later this summer. The features of the IA in YouTube shorts are currently limited in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, but they will extend to more countries later.
