Actor Ram Charan apologises to Jasprit Bumrah after on-stage goof-up: ‘It was a genuine human error’

Actor Ram Charan grabbed the limelight at the grand music launch of ‘Peddi’ in Bhopal, where he appeared alongside AR Rahman, Janhvi Kapoor and the film’s crew. During a light-hearted interaction, the actor was asked to describe Indian cricketers in a few words.
He called Sachin Tendulkar’s career a “legendary long run”, described MS Dhoni as “calm and cool” and said Rohit Sharma is “he is everyone’s man”. For Virat Kohli, he simply said: “Fire”.
Talking about Jasprit Bumrah, Ram Charan said that he was his biggest fan but accidentally mixed cricket and football while praising him. The clip quickly went viral online.
Later, Ram Charan apologized for the mistake on social media. He wrote, “Uff… I really tend to forget names sometimes. Apologies to @Jaspritbumrah93 Ji for the confusion – it was a real human error amidst all the excitement and crowds.” He added that he deeply respected Bumrah and admired the way the fast bowler made Indians proud with his performances.
While Bumrah is currently playing for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2026, the season has not gone smoothly for him. MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene has revealed that the pacer has been dealing with a minor injury since the T20 World Cup. Due to this, the team gave him extra rest before the start of the IPL.
Jayawardene explained that Bumrah slowly rebuilt his rhythm over the first few matches, which affected his pace and sharpness.
Even though he took only four wickets in 13 matches, opposing teams always played cautiously against him. The coach said Bumrah worked hard on his fitness, off-balls and workload management throughout the tournament.
Despite the difficult season, Jayawardene believes Bumrah is now close to his best. He said the pacer has regained his speed, yorkers and confidence in recent matches.
Praising Bumrah’s attitude, the coach said the bowler always remained positive and focused on improvement. Jayawardene concluded that there were no major concerns regarding Bumrah and expected him to “come back strong”.
