I‑80/35 to shut down for 2 nights as crews install sign trusses

Interstate traffic in west suburban Des Moines will be detoured for two nights due to overnight construction.
Crews must place aerial sign trusses above Interstate 80/35. Here’s what you need to know.
When will Iowa DOT close Interstate 80/35?
Northbound Interstate 35/Eastbound Interstate 80 will be closed to traffic from Mixmaster Southwest to Iowa Highway 141 from 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 26 until 4 a.m. Wednesday, May 27. If weather conditions delay construction, crews will come out Wednesday evening.
Southbound I-35/Westbound I-80 will close from Iowa 141 to Mixmaster Southwest on Monday, June 1, beginning at 10 p.m. and will reopen at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2.
What is the detour when Iowa DOT closes I-80/35?
The Iowa DOT will close portions of the highway overnight Tuesday, May 26, and Monday evening, June 1.
Drivers will follow a marked route that passes through West Des Moines, Clive and Urbandale when the highway is closed overnight.
For northeast traffic: Drivers will use the mixmaster to merge onto eastbound Interstate 235. Traffic will exit at Valley West Drive and head north as the road becomes 100th Street and eventually Urbandale Drive. Traffic may return to the highway at Iowa 141.
For south/west traffic: Drivers will exit at Iowa 141 and head south on Urbandale Drive. The road will become 100th Street and Valley West Drive, where drivers can connect to I-235. Drivers should take I-235 west to reach mixmaster southwest and continue on I-80 west or I-35 south.
