Inside the mind of a Democratic Trump voter

This confessional was assigned to the R / Centrist community of Reddit. In this document, a Democrat in Tennessee explains why he voted for Donald Trump in 2024, despite the Dowballot democratic vote. I share it with comments because it offers a window on lasting and exasperating calls from Trump.

I voted for Trump in 2024, I needed a lot to do it but I did it. I live in Nashville, so I voted Trump at the top and in fact I voted Blue all along, I am not a big fan of the Republicans of Tennessee. I find them too extreme, I would consider myself similar to a Northeast Republican, or a Democrat in the 90s.

I voted on the day of, I could have voted early but I chose not to do it because I just couldn’t decide what to do. I did not plan to vote for Harris for various reasons that I will explain, but it was Trump or a third. The day of, I chose Trump.

First of all, “Democrat of the 90s” is essentially code for “not awake”. I have writing Recently, on the way in which progressive fashionable words were an electoral disaster for the left.

I looked at the debate between Trump and Harris, and just like most people thought, Trump absolutely beat his ass by Harris. She came out strong, prepared, looked well up there, but I heard nothing new that she was trying to bring to the table which was new ideas and she had been vice-president for Joe and I was not very satisfied with the presidency of Joe Biden in all honesty. I didn’t think it was horrible, but it wasn’t great either.

Kamala Harris had to bring “something new”, but Trump could recycle his discussion points in the first failed term? Trump has always benefited from the fanaticism of low expectations – and here it is fully exposed. In addition, Biden was not horrible … so bring back the guy whose last presidency was?A

When I looked at the DNC, I didn’t really see much other than the party turning away from everyday citizens looking for a bright future and it seemed rather that DNC was open to large companies and business donors. I am all against the political parties purchased and paid, which made me advance the Democrats.

It looks like someone who gets new fox news or Facebook memes policies. The idea that the DNC is in bed with business donors – but the republican convention was not – is fantastic. For the record, the fundraising of conventions was not so far away, with $ 95 million For Democrats and $ 85 million For Republicans. And, yes, the Republicans has taken money from businesses. Of course, they did it.

Nuction is a huge thing for me, I felt that RFK joins Trump and talked about getting rid of nitrates, phosphates, corn syrups, seed oils … etc., and trying to reduce cancer levels and pursue businesses that poison our foods every day.

Imagine thinking that Trump will “continue” societies – unless they are led by a liberal or says something bad about it. And Robert F. Kennedy Jr.? It is a dangerous, simple and simple crank.

I felt that Trump would calm the Ukrainian / Russian conflict and Trump would use his relationship for Putin to say essentially “stop this shit” and create a quieter world for us. Would also work to correct the debt that this country faces, lower inflation, transparency on Epstein files and bring back a lot of jobs in the United States.

Trump’s biggest power is that his supporters believe his lies, reject his truths, and when there is neither, they invent things. It is a tabula rasa for projection. It’s part A.

Here is where things went south:

Epstein files, Guy thinks we are stupid. He campaigns on Epstein files, realizes that he is there and now tells us to stop worrying and ask why we are still talking about it? Now they try to divert by speaking of Obama. It’s embarrassing.

This guy is not Maga, and on his credit, he says that he comes back to vote Democrat. But he is right: Epstein stuff is a Authentic vulnerability For Trump. The more he tries to bury him, the more he feeds the story he hides something.

Getting rid of the Department of Education, I know that he raised this during his campaign, but I thought he would be reasonable enough to work through the aisle with the Democrats on this subject, but it’s crazy. He wanted to close the education department without a safeguard plan other than let the states understand it. I do not know if I necessarily trust the Republicans with regard to education these days.

Trump has never been supposed. He never worked with the Democrats. Why would anyone think he would start now?

This guy knew what Trump promised. He does not even trust the Republicans on education. And yet, he voted for Trump. I can’t even.

“Le Grand, Beau, Bill”, a terribly terrible invoice that only helps people in the main tax slices to save money on federal taxes they don’t need. I earn between 51k and 100k and I would only save $ 800 on taxes, but the highest tax slices will save thousands. For what? I could use more than $ 5,000 than someone who has a house or two. And the lower support will pay more taxes. It was by far the worst bill and it benefits the rich and not the working class, young people like me who voted for Trump.

Yes, the GOP adopted a tax bill for the rich. It is not an end of the touch. This is the brand.

Tarrifs: WTF is this type thinking that other countries will pay more, we must cost the cost. It makes things more expensive for us and high-level people that the United States has brought back higher income, but it comes from our own people, not even other countries.

Trump ran on it. He campaigned on it. Again, this guy was not uninformed. So why the shock?

Immigration: I am a traveler, I went to many countries and when you go beyond your welcome, immigration will come to your door and ask you to leave for me to understand this. If you are in this country and have exceeded your visa or you are not documented, you must go back and go back in the right direction. My father is an immigrant, has done all the good things and he is here and can vote. It should be the same for everyone. But, when immigration comes and goes after citizens and does not make their reasonable diligence and checks the history and citizenship and they simply assume their illegal that it is a massive red flag. Trump essentially says to these guys that they have free will to do anything and it is messed up. Alligator Alcatraz and the living conditions ridiculous there.

Even this type, which mainly supports the application of immigration, recognizes how reckless Trump is. But the basic question is missing: the economy depends strongly on the work of immigrants such as construction, agriculture and hospitality. Mass deportations are another inflationary time bomb.

The survey shows increasing support for immigrants, but much of this is just opposition To Trump’s policies, not a deeper ideological change. The question will continue to be a responsibility for the Democrats.

I will absolutely vote All Blue in mid-term and will vote for a next sensible democratic election. This guy ruined him for me.

We are a democratic country 49-48. We don’t need to win Maga. But if we can take off only 5 points – voters like this type – we are suddenly a country of 54-43. This returns more seats to the Chamber and the Senate, gives us a cushion for mid-term and opens up states with red sensations to real competition.

People like this guy – Democrats who flirted with Trump – are the lowest fruits. If there is a silver lining to Trump’s disastrous presidency, it is because some of them are now ready to go home.
