Kamala Harris Becomes Persona Non Grata for Some CA Democrats Ahead of 2026 Midterms and Here’s Why – RedState

Without a doubt, the former vice-president Kamala Harris relies on his closest advisers to help him determine whether to present himself to the post of Governor of California in 2026 or even to the presidency in 2028.

As she does, however, with a decision on the 2026 race which would have come at the end of the summer, certain fundraising and democratic donors with big money would be ambivalent as to the possibility that it will run to direct the Golden State, with “several major donors in the State” saying to Politico “that they fear its re -emergence as a candidate for the reopening of his defeat in 202”.

In addition, some Democratic political figures in California with whom Harris has a complicated history also weighs, with the former mayor of SF and president of the assembly of the State Willie Brown, with whom Harris had a relationship in the mid -1990s while Brown was married, suggesting in a recent interview that “she did not want to present herself to the governor. I think it will be difficult for her to win this work”.

Interestingly, some California Democrats dodge the question of Harris 2026 as a hot potato, with some refusing to comment and others giving lukewarm responses:

Representative Dave Min was chatting with journalists in the American Capitol when the California Democrat was invited to find out if Kamala Harris was running for governor.

Suddenly Min has no time to speak.

“I have no comments,” he said.

When he was asked what he thought that a Harris race would mean for his own re -election perspectives, Min repeated: “I have no comments on this subject, sorry” and sank on the house of the house, far from journalists.

Representative George Whitesides, another Democratic first year student from California who beat an outgoing republican by 8,000 votes, took a long break before responding if he wanted to see the former vice-president to introduce himself.

“I welcome her in the race. I am really focused on my own race, but if that’s what she feels calling to do, it’s her prerogative,” Whitesides told CNN.

Fear among some State Democrats, according to the CNN report, is that it could galvanize the Republicans in 2026 and injure vulnerable democrats in competitive races:

The criticisms of Harris – of which few will put their names to their complaints – make their own mathematics: she would probably win if she runs, they say, but if she does not generate enthusiasm or if she triggers the Republicans, she could prove the districts of vulnerable democrats like Min and Whitesides as well as the State Assembly and the districts of the State Senate.

And it goes without saying that the national battles emerging on a possible redistribution of the mid-define congress which takes place in red states like Texas and Florida before the middle of 2026, Democrats in California will want to put what they consider to be their best candidate in the governor’s breed in the hopes that they would not hurt and could not even help their candidates and
