Texas governor vetoes bill that would ban all THC products

Austin, Texas – The Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, opposed his veto to an invoice on Sunday to prohibit all Thc consumables, allowing the booming market with vapes, gummies and other products infused with THC to continue to be sold through the State.

Abbott, a republican, waited until the last moment to oppose his veto to the bill in what would have been one of the most restrictive prohibitions in the country’s THC and an important blow for the billions of dollars in the state.

The law would have made an offense to own, manufacture or sell consumption THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, products and was the last push of states to regulate THC after a 2018 federal law has authorized states to regulate hemp, a plant similar to marijuana which can be treated synthetic to produce THC, the compound giving marijuana its psychoactive properties.

The gaps in existing law have enabled many goods infused with THC to enter the market across the country, including states with strict marijuana laws.

Texas has some of the strictest laws on the country’s marijuana, prohibiting any recreational use and providing a limited medical marijuana program. The consumable market has allowed residents to legally access goods giving a level similar to marijuana.

Republican legislators have criticized products and dangerous due to a lack of federal surveillance in the way the goods are manufactured. Texas ban is one of the largest among states that have taken similar measures. Several states, including California, have imposed age limits and restrictions on the power of THC products.

Critics of the Texas bill say that people who cannot access marijuana through the State Marijuana Medical Marijuana acquires goods which can provide similar relief. Many state retailers have also underlined the thousands of jobs and millions of income that industry brings each year.

Last year, the Florida Republican Governor Ron Desantis opposed a bill to a bill that would have imposed restrictions on consumables, saying that it would harm small businesses.
