Trump Rejects Starmer’s Decision to Recognize Palestinian State: a ‘Reward for Hamas’

President Donald Trump did not agree on Tuesday with the announcement of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, that he would recognize a Palestinian state in September, calling him “award for Hamas”.
Trump responded to Starmer in Air Force One on the way to the United States after a visit to Scotland, during which he concluded a trade agreement with the European Union and negotiated peace, between Thailand and Cambodia.
Although the two leaders seemed to be on the same wavelength at a press conference on Monday concerning Gaza, Starmer took an additional step – the one he had not reported in advance, said Trump.
The time of Israel reported:
US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer did not discuss Great Britain to recognize a Palestinian state in September, unless Israel takes a number of measures to improve the lives of the Palestinians.
…
“If you do this, you really reward Hamas,” he said, referring to decisions to recognize the Palestinian state by France and now the United Kingdom. “I’m not about to do that.”
The president says that he spoke to Netanyahu two days ago and expresses his confidence in Israel’s ability to distribute food to the Gazans, despite generalized criticism of his humanitarian efforts so far.
Trump’s language was parallel to that of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which also called the Starmer’s announcement “award for Hamas”. Starmer followed following French President Emmanuel Macron, who made a similar announcement last week. The British Prime Minister also said that he expected him to expect Hamas to release all his hostages, to disarm and accept that he could not participate in a future Palestinian government.
