Bombshell Study Reveals Real Reason Behind Surge in Homelessness, and It’s Not What the Dems Tell You – RedState
It is a “housing crisis”. This is because the Republicans are bad and do not care about the oppressed. This is because capitalism is cruel. This is because we do not throw enough money into the problem.
We are talking about the crisis of homelessness, and the Democrats who are in charge of many cities the hardest affected by devastation will blame almost anything other than their own failed policies. But according to a study by researchers from the University of Chicago and Dartmouth College – not exactly institutions called conservative bastions – there is another reason behind the surprising increase in the homeless population, and this is not what Gavin Newsom, JB Pritzker and the consumer media tell you.
The study was published in April, but I do not remember that CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times or any other liberal point of sale were talking about it. The document, simply entitled “Asylum seekers and rise in power”, attracts renewed attention, and the summary tells you about everything you need to know:
Data from the Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD) indicate an unprecedented increase of 43% of the number of people residing in shelters for homeless in the United States between 2022 and 2024, reversing progressive decline in the sixteen years previous. Three -quarters of this elevation were concentrated in four localities – New York, Chicago, Massachusetts and Denver – where large entries of new immigrants in search of asylum were hosted in emergency shelters. Using direct estimates of local government sources and indirect methods based on demographic changes, we believe that asylum seekers have represented around 60% of the increase in the two years of homelessness during this period, which calls into question the media and political accounts which mainly attribute this increase to local economic conditions and the affordability of housing.

Note that the figures that the researchers provided above only describe the protected homeless. The number of homeless in the streets has also increased in a precipitated way, as whoever lives in a big city can tell you.

One of the researchers, the Bruce Meyer of the University of Chicago, said that Trump’s border policies should help relieve the disaster created by Democrats:
“The least than half of the increase in roaming comes from migration, rather than new people falling into poverty,” said Bruce Meyer of the University of Chicago.
“Federal changes on immigration policy under the Trump administration that close to asylums are likely to slow down the growth of homelessness in the years to come.”

Meyer said that his article, which partially supports the repression of President Donald Trump’s border, proved “unpopular” in academic circles – a factor which, according to him, could explain why he was widely ignored by the consumer media.
According to a count in 2024, more than 771,800 people are homeless in the United States every night, with the largest figures in New York and California – two sanctuary states with crime laws and progressive governors.
