June 2025 Strawberry Moon: How and When You Can See It

Passionate sky observers observed while the strawberry moon appeared on June 10. Known for its unique amber shades and, with some looks, pink glow, the strawberry moon is considered the last moon of the full moon of spring or the first moon of the summer. It is the 6th of 12 complete moons in 2025. And this year, she did not disappoint.
In rare moments, the strawberry moon can occur at the same time as the summer solstice. This was the case in 2016, when the astronaut Jeff Williams of NASA captured the “spectacular climb” of the full moon of the international space station.

In 2023, Strawberry’s moon shone on the New York Liberty Statue, which resulted in striking photos taken in the early hours of the morning.
Here is what you need to know about the celestial event of June:
What was the strawberry moon and how did it get its name?
The name Strawberry Moon comes from the fact that June is when the strawberry harvest occurs, according to the former Almanaque farmer. Moons often take their name from the season, such as the way in which the May’s flower moon refers to the abundance of spring flowers.
According to the Western Washington University, Moon Strawberry’s nickname was used by several native tribes.

When does the Strawberry Moon peak?
The strawberry moon culminated on June 11 at 3:44 a.m., although the best time to see the moon was when it got up on June 10 in dusk in the southeast of the United States, when the moon threw a warm and amber shade through the sky.
The Supergiant Star Red Antares was also visible in the night sky on June 10, passing on June 11. The Australians and New Zealanders, as well as those of the South Pacific, were able to look at the occult moon – or a block – Antares.
Antares is the brightest star of the Constellation Scorpius, and its lunar concealment occurred at dusk for those of the western part of the South Pacific, and in the eastern part of the region later occurred in the evening, around 7:00 p.m.

What is the best way to attend the strawberry moon?
The moon always seems lighter in places without light pollution and from a high place. For those who plan in advance for 2026, the ideal locations include a place with an uncompromising view of the eastern horizon.
In general, best practices to see the moon with a naked eye is to give you “a lot of time for your eyes to adapt and look carefully”, according to NASA.
But the full moon can be seen with even more specificity via binoculars or a small telescope, which allow viewers to observe many different characteristics of the moon, including its mountain crests and where it was marked by impacts of other celestial objects.
As for the strawberry 2025 moon, it was the lowest full moon of the year, as seen in the northern hemisphere. According to Earthsky, this strawberry moon was the lowest full moon since 2006, due to the major lunar stop. This phenomenon, which occurs every 18.6 years, causes Moonrise and Monset to the most extreme points in the North and South.
