How the Indiana Fever have stayed afloat without Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark is the centerpiece of Indiana fever, which is obvious. However, the recruit of the year 2024 was on the bench more than it was on the field this season, because it had trouble hurting. First of all, it was a quadriceps strain, then came the first strain of the groin, and the second followed shortly after. This last stay saw Clark come out since before the WNBA stars break, and the fever does not have a calendar for its return.
Before the season, many people had the Indiana fever classified to compete with the best WNBA teams and finish the season in the first three. The absence of Clark slightly derailed these plans, but the fever found a rhythm in the last break from Clark with the courtyard. Currently, Indiana fever is sitting in 6th place on the league scale, with a record of 16-12, slowly separating from the level of .500 to which they have been or below for several seasons. Clark only played in 13 of these 28 games, missing more than she played at this stage.
So how did the fever manage to stay afloat without their star? There are a few components – the first being that Indiana has fully benefited from the market of the mid -season free agency. As soon as Clark is released the first time, the fever went and signed Aari McDonald, who had been canceled by the Sparks. As Jacob details in the related position, McDonald was one of the best options that fever could have grasped its mid-season position. The fever also recently signed Chloe Bibby to a rest contract, another large pick-up for them.

Indiana has also really supported Aliyah Boston’s game, their choice of recovery No. 1 of 2023. Boston has an average of 15.5 points in career per match in 2025, up 1.5 points per match from 2024. She tried 11.3 goals on the field per match, and she shoots 54.4% on the field. The priority in Boston is an excellent strategy for keeping strong until Clark returns, because Clark is so good to find Boston in the position. There will not be much to adapt once Clark is back, because they can allow it to facilitate an already hot boston while recovering its own game where it is usually.
Indiana has managed to place McDonald temporarily in the position of the guard while Clark heals, while obtaining his Pick-And-Roll partner in Boston at best personal figures. A rested Clark and a drawn boston is not a combo team will want to see in the playoffs. Even if Indiana is unable to climb in the top 4 and obtain a home advantage, they will always have a significant advantage with Clark Champion at the ILO to return in time for the playoffs. If his rest helps more than rust does not hurt, fever could be a dangerous black horse.
