Small earthquake rattles New Jersey and New York City | New York

A small earthquake rocked the New York metropolitan region on Saturday evening.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the tremor was a magnitude of 3.0.
He struck in the suburbs of the New Jersey of Hasbrouck Heights, less than 8 miles (13 km) west of Central Park, at a depth of about 6.2 miles (10 km).
A resident of the Brooklyn borough of New York described it as a very brief tremor, just a slight swing for a while.
Nevertheless, social media quickly turned on with people who felt it. The official account of the State Building Empire reported on the social platform X to say: “I’m fine.”
The tremor was much softer than an earthquake of 4.8 coarse in 2024 which struck in Tewksbury, New Jersey, a little further west of the city.
An earthquake of 3.0 is generally not strong enough to cause damage-but tremors that are soft are somewhat rare in the northeast of the United States.
New York’s emergency department said there was no immediate report on major impacts.
