A video of a jokingly joking woman jokingly jokingly her talented daughter has become viral on Tiktok, amazing more than 22.7 million views and causing laughter.

“I need to know who I can contact to report these abuses,” explains the mother, who turns in a store. She performs a sketchpad belonging to her daughter, an artist obviously qualified. The mother, who goes through @ mbnks205 online, says that her daughter is expressed by drawing. “When she is angry with me, she draws photos of me,” she adds, then turns to an unflattering caricature of herself.

As the video takes place, the woman crosses the sketchbook, presenting a series of drawings. When she reaches the third, she underlines the undoubted details: a woman with a large round body wearing a vest – just like the one she wore that day – and a jar of ice nearby.

“I always eat ice,” adds the mom with a sigh, before turning the camera to her unlikely face. She then joked: “I need to report my daughter.”

The humor of the clip aside, the video involuntarily aligns with the results of a study by the University of Stanford, published in Nature communicationsThis explores the development capacity of children to draw and recognize objects.

The researchers brought together around 37,000 digital drawings of children aged 2 to 10 at Children’s Discovery Museum in San Jose. Using a kiosk, the children were invited to draw specific elements and guess what others had drawn. Automatic learning was then used to assess how recognizable drawings were, with around 2,000 of them analyzed by adults who labeled parts of individual objects.

The study concluded that improvements in the recognition of drawings throughout childhood are not only due to motor skills or stereotypical clues, such as the addition of long ears to a rabbit. Instead, they also reflect the way children convey the meaning and intention – even if a drawing is not exactly visually, it can always point out, for example, that the subject is an animal or large.

“Children’s drawings contain a lot of rich information on what they know,” said researcher Bria Long. “And we think it’s a really cool way to learn what children think. It is not because your child does not draw something very well that he does not express interesting knowledge on this category.”

The light video has clearly touched a sensitive string, collecting more than 4 million likes and more than 11,000 comments.

“She better draw a new house,” wrote a user, accumulating 179,500 likes.

“I mean … It’s a healthy way to deal with anger,” said another.

A third commented: “It is the fact that she is a gifted illustrator who makes it so hurtful. This is really what she feels.”

“It is a crime of hatred,” added a fourth.
