American Airlines revives some of its pre-pale destinations such as Prague and Budapest, Hungary, while international trips continue to resist domestic demand.

The other additions include its first international flights from Dallas Fort Worth to Athens, Greece and a service all year round between Miami and Milan.

The American also extends the service for the World Cup next year, from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Dallas and between Dallas and Zurich, where the director of football, FIFA, is based. These flights will take place from May 21 to August 4 next year, an offer for more business trips and sports tourism.

Brian Znotins, main vice-president of planning the United States networks and schedules, told CNBC that the airline had seen a large number of Argentine customers going to Doha, Qatar, during the 2022 World Cup and that he expects to go even more to the 2026 World Cup, which will be played in Canada, the United States and Mexico.

He also said that the airline widens its service in Europe in a bet that customers prefer to connect to an American center like Dallas or Charlotte, in North Carolina.

“We have examined the new one where the hot spots in Europe are located in Europe and we continue to see the force in Italy and Greece,” said Znotins. “We continue to see a high number of travelers connect to Europe to get to places like Rome and Athens,” the airline adds more US Hubs options.

With the Prague and Budapest service of the American’s HUB at Philadelphia International Airport, he said that many customers are already flying into a city and the other for the cruises of the Danube river and other visits.

The revenues of American units for domestic flights in the last quarter dropped by 6.4% compared to 2024, while transatlantic income increased by 5%.

Many American summer routes have been interrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but Znotins said that the changes were not only a return to this period.

“We have redesigned the whole airline according to the environment of today’s demand and not a certain desire to return to 2019,” he said. “Everything has changed.”

American will use Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners for all new flights except Zurich in Dallas, which will be piloted by Boeing 777-200.
