OpenAI boasts about the power of ChatGPT 5, but does that make it better than Gemini 2.5 Flash?

When Openai removed the GPT-5 sheet, it was not shy to say that it was his most capable model to date. The terrain was that he understood everything you liked in past iterations, and much more, and everything in a transparent form. The result is supposed to be able to understand, create, reason and switch effortlessly between giving quick responses and writing deep and thoughtful explanations. The GPT-5 can process text, images, audio and video in the same conversation, remember more than you probably do and adjust its style and personality on the fly. And you will prefer this because it is not only the default model for chatgpt, it is the only accessible for those who without a business subscription.
Gemini 2.5 Flash is the default value of the Google Ai Rival chatbot. As its name suggests, it is built for speed, but that does not mean that it lacks power. It is multimodal and can manage large tasks, but is set for almost instant answers and great efficiency. Despite this, I wondered how much the power of the GPT-5 of the difference would make the average user of the chatbot Ai, and I decided to give them a few tests to see what they found.
Festive time

My child is too young for a fantasy party, but I can easily imagine wanting to have a apparently developed party for him and his friends who do not really require a party planner. So I asked the two AI chatbots to “plan a birthday party on the theme of dinosaurs and magic for a seven -year -old child, including activities, food and decorations.”
The GPT-5 returned with a complex and detailed plan divided into small steps that even I could follow. He proposed a “fossil excavation” sandbox with small brushes, twisted green banners in vineyards in the jungle, cardboard caves for “Dinosaur hide and Seek” and a volcano cake that was bubbling before being decided. He gave a calendar for the configuration, recommended to play a jungle reading list in the background and suggested printing badges “junior paleontologist” for children.
The version of Gemini Flash was shorter and a little cleaner, but was missing a lot of additional details. He listed activities such as a fossil excavation, anecdotes and a coloring station, as well as ideas for food and decoration. Although he did not have as many details in the initial answer, he said he asked questions about one of the elements for more information and advice. If you were juggling with purchases, configuration and a dozen other races, Flash’s brevity could look like relief rather than a gap.
Health Tips
An Openai service highlighted GPT-5 was health advice. I would not choose the AI over my doctor in most cases, and, to be fair, Openai clearly indicated that no one should, but if people will already ask for health advice, it is logical to try to upgrade it. I asked questions about a complaint for imaginary, but very common health, asking the two AI how: “I sometimes receive light headache at night. What are the current causes, and what lifestyle adjustments can help? ”
GPT-5 managed this with measured care, explaining that it is not uncommon and exposing probable reasons such as dehydration, posture, screen time, irregular sleep, end of evening caffeine, etc. He each connected to headaches, then established a list of specific adjustments based on evidence that I could make, explaining why each change could help, and noted when the medical follow -up would be wise. He referred to the renowned health organizations, which I appreciated, because it made him more reliable.
Gemini Flash replied with a similar list, although more concisely stated, and has focused on hydration and a regular sleep calendar as particular concentrations. It did not extend much why these changes help, but included links as references, there was a lot there for someone looking for ideas, and honestly, would probably be acceptable to the average health professional that I suspect, although the deeper explanations and tone of Chatgpt 5 can be more reassuring if the person felt worried and wanted to understand the under-tens.
New myths

I then decided to compare both the “creativity” of the two models and their image generation in one go, asking them “Invent a completely original myth of creation that has never been said before, then create a Renaissance style painting to represent it.”
You can see the chatgpt painting on the left above and the Gemini on the right. The two models have opted for images not too far from what you might see in a church in Italy, with Gemini even suggesting a new ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
According to Chatgpt, he painted “Aeothar, The First Sound, and Lysara, the Night’s weaver, whose union was born of the cosmos. Aeothar rocks the newborn earth, his raised finger signaling the first vibration that echoes the creation.”
Gemini envisaged a myth explaining that “the universe was born from the” Luminis Cordis “, a heart of pulsating light. Empty and nebulous.”
Mastered
The GPT-5 undoubtedly brings a power and a capacity of enormous cat cats when it comes to creating software, code a website or logically working with complex tasks and mathematical problems. But, during daily use, GPT-5 and Gemini 2.5 Flash are probably not very different. Both can plan a party, help you prepare for dinner, give health advice and even invent a new mythology.
Chatgpt 5 can offer more details at the beginning and can be more flexible in the way it reacts, but you can always ask gem follow -up questions. Regarding the ASA Chatbot AI user, the multiple steps, the enormous context window and the perfect delivery are probably unnecessary.
The additional power of GPT-5 has the most when the challenge itself requires it. For everything else, you can also choose the most comfortable with which you feel more comfortable. The GPT-5 could immediately design and plan a whole marriage, including florists, while you may want to stick to the request of Gemini for a good florist to start. Most of the time, you don’t need the wedding planner, just help get a nice bouquet.
