Manhunt Ends With Capture of Suspected Shooter of 4 in Anaconda, MT Bar – RedState

Anaconda, Montana, law enforcement officials announced the capture of the man suspected of having fired and killed four in a local bar just over a week ago. Michael P. Brown managed civil servants during a manhunt in and around the small community in the southwest of MT nestled at the base of the Anaconda mountain range, as my colleague Susie Moore wrote on August 1:

There is a horrible story of Montana on Friday, while the authorities say that a shooter fired and killed four people in a bar in Anaconda before fleeing.

Friday morning, four people died after a shooting in a bar in Anaconda, Montana, the division of the Montana criminal investigation in a press release.

Anaconda-deer Lodge County Law Enforcement Center said in an article on Facebook that they were looking for the suspect Michael Paul Brown, who would be armed and dangerous. The agency advised the public to stay outside the region and not to approach it. Chase Scheuer, spokesperson for the Montana Ministry of Justice, also identified Brown as the suspect of CNN. The division of the Montana criminal investigation, or DCI, is part of the State Ministry of Justice.

The shooting took place at 10:30 am local time at the OWL bar, and the scene is secure, said Montana DCI. Additional details on what led to the shooting were not immediately available.

Here is more on the alleged shooter:

The authorities said Brown had been seen for the last time to conduct a 2007 White Ford Ford Ford Pick-up with the Montana Dty493 plates. The vehicle was spotted towards the west of Anaconda on Stomptown Road.

The brown is described as 5 feet 10 inches high, weighing 170 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. Officials warned that Brown would be armed and extremely dangerous.

On Saturday, the authorities seemed to have a major break in the search for Brown because they found where he had left his truck, which considerably reduced the area where he could hide:

A white Ford F-150 that Michael Paul Brown has been found was found, but Brown “was not located in or around the vehicle,” said the division of the Montana division on Friday evening.

The authorities now concentrate their research in the mountains near Stomptown Road, west of Anaconda, where the shooting took place, said Johnson. A spokesman for the Montana Ministry of Justice said on Saturday, several local, state and federal agencies were looking for brown on the ground and in the air around Stomptown Road.

There was also more information published on the four victims in the shooting, as I wrote:

A bartender and three customers will be killed during the incident, according to law enforcement officials.

Now, the Sheriff’s Bureau of Clark and Clark, Leo Dutton, says they have it in detention after the eight -day man hunt:

[The man] Suspected of having killed four people in a Montana bar last week was captured on Friday, local law enforcement officials said. The arrest puts an end to a manhunt which lasted eight days while the agents of the application of the laws excavated a land brush outside the small town of Anaconda.

The details of the place and the way the man, Michael P. Brown, was placed in police custody was not immediately provided by civil servants. Mr. Brown, 45, had fled into the foothills near the city after the shooting in the OWL bar, a neighborhood tavern on August 1, the authorities said.

Eric Hempstead, the owner of another local bar, said that he seemed that Mr. Brown had been apprehended a few hundred meters from the Taverne on the roadside of Mr. Hempstead, the Ranch bar.

The report added that “[r]The suspect’s Elatives said he had a long history of mental illness after being a member of armor in the army. “”

NBC News Montana confirmed the news and gave more details on the reward for Brown capture:

We also now know the names and ages of the victims in the horrible shooting:

A bartender and three customers were killed during the shooting. The officials identified them as Nancy Lauretta Kelley, 64; Daniel Edwin Baillie, 59 years old; David Allen Leach, 70 years old; and Tony Wayne Palm, 74.

This is a story in development, so the details are still emerging. Redstate will provide updates as more information will be available.
