An agreement was concluded in April between the Treasury Department – Parental Agency of the IRS – and the Ministry of Internal Security (DHS), two people familiar with the situation at the Washington Post said. The IRS would send taxpayers to check the addresses of around 40,000 people that DHS thinks I illegally in the United States. Later, DHS officials suggested that they would finally need tax information of around 7 million people who are illegally in the United States, Washington Post reported. There would be around 11 million illegal migrants in the United States
The lawyers for the IRS privacy have opposed data sharing, arguing that this information is confidential.
IRS officials responded to the DHS on Friday and said they could provide less than 3% of the 40,000 names listed by those responsible for the application of immigration. These people had individual identification numbers of taxpayers provided by the DHS, which migrants often use social security numbers on tax declarations.
The DHS said in a press release that the agreement with the IRS “describes a process to ensure that the sensitive information of taxpayers is protected, while allowing the police to effectively pursue criminal violations,” reported the Washington Post.
“After four years of Joe Biden flooding the nation of illegal foreigners, these processes rationalize the pursuit of violent criminals, rub these people from voter reports, identify the public advantages that these foreigners use to taxpayers’ expenses, while protecting the security and data of American citizens,” the statement said.
The White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson said in a statement: “The Trump administration is working in locking to eliminate information silos and to prevent illegal foreigners from taking advantage of the advantages for American workers taxpayers.”
“Any absurd affirmation other than everyone aligned on the mission is simply false and totally false,” she added after the publication of the history of the Washington Post.
The Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will be the interim commissioner of the IRS.
