Why I Still Prefer to Watch Videos on My Smallest Screen

When we buy televisions, we try to get the biggest that we can afford. It goes without saying that larger screens are better to watch videos. However, again and again, I end up looking more on one of the smallest screens I have.

TVs and tablets are not there when I want them

We don’t have, and I don’t want a television either in each room. I grew up in this kind of house, and it’s no longer for me. But that does not mean that I never want to watch a product review, a list of games or someone shares the books they read this month in the comfort of my bed.

Our TV stays in the living room. It is mounted on the wall and not being moved. It is not useful to me in such situations.

Even the tablets are often left hanging out wherever they were used for the last time. I can go and get it back, but often it is not so serious. My phone is already there and much easier to grasp.

I compete with the family for the TV

For a video, I really prefer the TV. There are details that I don’t fully appreciate on a small screen. TV shows and movies Youtubers with such precious cameras to super-solutions that can only be noticed on sufficiently large screens.

But I live in a family of four people. I cannot hold for granted that the TV is available. Even if I play the dad card and take my children’s television, it does not mean that I want them to hear whatever I try to look. It’s a safer bet just to remove my phone and some buds.

My phone is easy to support

I’m wearing a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. I’m writing these words on it right now. This foldable book in book style has completely changed my way of working, given everything it can do. It also changed to watch the video for me.

This is because everywhere, at any time, my phone can support itself. I often leave the device partially unfolded just enough for the blanket screen to be visible at the ideal corner.

My phone may not be a big television, but it works like a small and light to take anywhere.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is a foldable smartphone that combines the features of a tablet with the convenience of a phone. It has a large flexible internal screen which automatically resumes where you stopped on the cover of the coverage.

Tablets make the low -resolution video more obvious

My foldable screen is larger than that of most other phones, but that does not mean that the videos are as large as you think. They are bigger than most phones, of course, but only marginally. There is a big difference between looking on an 8 inch foldable and an 8 -inch tablet, entirely due to the shape of the screen. A phone that opens onto a large screen aspect report would be a particular phone when closed (this does not mean that I would not be interested in seeing a rolbler at the range that opens on the side, because it could always be dop).

The biggest screen of a tablet is not always a gift. If I start a flow which by default at 360p, it is immediately obvious. Cutting this up to 480p or 720p can always leave a disappointing video. I pay much more attention to the image quality when I look on a tablet than on my phone.

Telephones have an incredibly high nickname

A phone with the opposite effect. The high resolution display combined with a small screen size leads to many pixels per inch wrapped together. The images that look pixelated on a larger screen are clear here.

I can watch a low resolution video on my phone, and it looks very good. I can look at more YouTube channels – as it is mainly a YouTube problem for me – without being distracted by the quality of the image. I do not immediately know the budget differences between certain channels and others entirely based on the quality of the cameras they are able to afford.

No matter the phone I use either. My Galaxy Z Fold 6 has an excellent screen, but the emissions also seemed clear on my previous motorcycle + 2023. I could not support this phone as a foldable, but it was nothing that a cheap support could not repair.

Many videos only want listening

Frankly, I don’t try to actively watch all the videos I put. If I turn on Netflix or PBS, I want to be in front of the TV. But youtube? I don’t need to see someone speak in their camera on a 75 -inch screen. Even when they cut in B-Roll, it’s just a filling. I rarely need to see it to follow.

A large part of YouTube could be described as podcasts with an additional small video flair. This is particularly the case with channels that are explicitly video podcasts, such as Vergecast and waveform. And there is no way that I want to submit the family more than three hours from a single episode of the Wan show. We are a loving family, but such treatment could start eroding this.

Such creations feel better on a small paired screen with Bluetooth headphones as my day progresses.

I do not personally look at Tiktok or Instagram – but they are elephants in the room. Everyone is a video platform designed for phones first, and this is where they adapt best. Even Twitch, although it is not originally formed on phones, is not from televisions either. A large part of what we look at is not made for the biggest screen of our houses. It is produced with the expectation that we remove our smallest.
