Netflix Has Hidden Features and Secret Codes

Netflix is not so complicated to use (unless something breaks, that is to say). You connect, scroll the selections and choose something to look at. Of course, like all services, there is more than what meets the eye here. Netflix has a handful of features and parameters hidden under its round, including a rather emblematic secret code system – at least, it is emblematic for those who know.

Secret Codes of Netflix

One of the best secret features of Netflix is its hidden codes, and it is really because they are fun. Without the knowledge of many subscribers, the company uses a codes system to designate different categories of content. Each large category has its own code, but in each of these categories, there are a number of hyper specific categories with their own codes.

For example, Netflix’s “Action & Adventure” genre has a code of 1365, but in this category, there are subcategories, including “diversion films” (20541), “SPY Action & Adventure” (10702) and “Comic Book and Superhero Films” (10118). According to Netflix, there are more than 36,000 of these codes (and, as such, corresponding categories) and counting. Since your application probably does not return to almost 36,000 categories when you travel, it is many ways to sort the Netflix content you miss. But where do you find these codes?

Netflix-Codes.com was the essential database of these codes, and it still appears at the top of a Google search, but the site clearly lacks most of these 36,000 codes. You will find more of these codes on the site what is on Netflix, but even its list is only dated 2023. However, there are more than 4,100 codes here to try. Perhaps one day Netflix will set up a database dedicated to all its codes and categories, but until then, we are working with what we have.

Once you have a code you want to use, you will have to return to Netflix. Unfortunately, you will not be able to browse the Netflix codes in the application on a smartphone or tablet. These codes only work when you look at Netflix from an office browser. You can simply enter your code of choice in the Netflix search bar, or go directly from the following link, by replacing the (xx) with your code of choice: https://netflix.com/browse/genre/xx.

Search specific content types

Likewise, you can use the search function in the application or the site to find content guys Rather than simple titles. For example, you may only want to see things available on 4K. Look for 4K and you are golden. The same goes for Netflix Originals: a search for “Netflix” will filter the results only for the content that Netflix has. Be creative with your search requests and see what results appear.

Save and share clips

If you’ve already tried to take a screenshot of a Netflix program, you will know that it is madness. If you try it, you will only find yourself with a black image, because Netflix blocks any screen recording tool from the reading window.

But Netflix allows you to save and share clips from your favorite programs and films – if you play according to their rules. If you have an account without advertising, you can start a program or a film on your mobile application, then press the screen and choose “Moments”. Press “Save”, then press the “Share” button to send the clip to another user. Or, head to the Netflix My Netflix tab to look at it again.

Deactivate the previews

Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t stay Streaming services that play an overview for a show or a film when I selected this piece of content. I would be well if the preview was an option, as under a dedicated “overview” button, but for the preview in automatic reading each time I stop scrolling on Netflix is a huge pain. Fortunately, you can deactivate them.

To do this, log into your account in a web browser, click “Manage profiles”, then choose the profile for which you want to adjust the settings. Click on “Reading Settings”, then uncheck the box next to “Automatic reading Preview when browsing all devices”.

Skip the intro from your keyboard

If you look at Netflix on your computer, you probably use your keyboard to control the reading. The space bar starts and stops the video, the ESC key comes out of the full screen and the F key puts you in full screen. You can also know that the left and right arrows can jump and transmit 10 seconds, the arrows from top to bottom can adjust the volume and the key to the video.

But what you may not know is that you can also ignore the intro to a show on your keyboard. Everything that takes pressure on the S key when the option “Intro Skip appears – although I firmly believed in looking at the intro.

Manage your watch story

The things you look at on your account are your business, but Netflix likes to make everyone – at least those who can access your account. Fortunately, you can hide the articles in your story at any time, that you are looking at someone you prefer that people do not know, or that you notice that other people have looked at things you don’t want to appear in your story.

Return to your profile settings in a web browser, then click on “Activity display”. Here you will find a full list of everything that has ever been looked at on your Netflix account. You can hide the individual elements by clicking on the “no” symbol, or click on the “Masque All” button to hide everything in one time.

While you are here, you can click on “note” to manage the notes you have distributed over the years. You can see what you have evaluated each item and take the note to something else: either a boost up, the thumb up, or double.

Log your profile behind a pin

Do you want to prevent other people on your account from looking at your profile? You can lock your profile behind a four -digit pin. Simply come back to your profile settings in a web browser and choose “lock in profile”. Here, click on “Create a profile lock”, enter the password from the account, then follow the instructions on the screen to configure your PIN.
