Transport secretary, Sean Duffy, appeared on Wednesday on the New York Post Podcast Podcast, where he spoke of a previous spray between him and the former chief of the Ministry of Government (DOGE) Elon Musk.
According to Duffy, the two had “a little back and forth” after Musk proposed the dismissal of “critical security positions”, including the air traffic controllers, which was a red line for the transport secretary.
“I think it might not have been intentional, could have been raised by some of the requests that were made by DOGE, but my position was that we are not going to draw air controllers,” Duffy in Miranda guesses the post.
The secretary explained that the conversation had taken place before the tragic plane crash in Washington, DC, who killed dozens in January, noting: “It was before the DCA. Critical security positions will not be dismissed within the Ministry of Transport.”

On January 27, an Army Black Hawk helicopter collided outdoors with a regional jet at Reagan National Airport (DCA) in Arlington, Virginia, killing 67 passengers. The collision caused an in -depth examination of the safety of air travel, and more specifically, the state of the country’s air traffic control systems.
The transport secretary said that while he launches “fairly well” with Musk, “Elon – or no one else – is the secretary. I am. The Senate confirmed to me.”
Duffy recognized that his department could “do things more effectively”, but insisted that the dismissal of air controllers was not an option – a position that apparently triggered the quarrel between him and the CEO of Tesla.
“There is fat that we can-that we can cut, but we are not going to the fire controllers,” he told Devine. “And so we had a little back and forth, [but] We got along very well after that. I think the papers made it a more important deal than it was. “”

The transport manager congratulated Elon to be an “incredible innovator”, but reiterated that he is the one who is responsible for the conduct of the country’s transport policy, expressing a relief that he has followed his instinct and refused to dismiss air controllers.
“Elon is an incredible innovator. He is creative. And again, there is a lot to learn from him, but I direct this department, and once again, I didn’t want someone outside trying to tell me to shoot people,” he said. “If I had done that, if I had in fact dismissed controllers, oh, mine – I thought that the liberal media would do me. I would be shot. We are not thanked, but [this] This is why, throughout the government, you must make sure that the secretaries are those who drive politics. “”
