ESPN Ditches Spike Lee’s Docuseries About Colin Kaepernick

The director of ESPN belonging to Disney and the director Spike Lee revealed that they were in the process of keeping Lee’s documentary series on the controversial, the demonstrator of the national anthem and the former quarter of the NFL Colin Kaepernick.
Lee had contracted with the Cable Sports Network to produce a series in several games on the life of Kaepernick, which, in 2016, helped launch the trend of the Multimillionaires of the NFL against the United States. After a full season of constant agitation against the country, no NFL team signed the quarter-back when he became a free agent in 2017. He has since been outside looking without a team expressing a real interest in helping him relaunch his career in the NFL.
Many left -hand racing pushes held Kaepernick as an example of “racism” in America, and Lee intended to highlight the fate of the former player. But it now seems that none of the projects will never see the light of day.
“ESPN, Colin Kaepernick and Spike Lee have collectively decided not to continue this project anymore following certain creative differences,” ESPN said in a statement on Sunday, according to the New York Post.
“Although he did not reach the finality, we appreciate all the hard work and the collaboration that entered this film,” added the network.
Asked about the project on the red carpet before dinner of the Harold and Carole Pump Foundation, Lee said that he had signed an NDA on the project and cannot discuss it in public.
“It is not out. That’s all I can say,” he said, adding: “I signed a non-divulgation. I can’t talk about it.”
The series was announced in February 2022 and the production began shortly after. However, it was quickly reported that he put an end to disagreements between Kapepernick and Lee on how the player was to be represented. It was also noted that the disagreements had become so deep that the chief of the ESPN, Jimmy Pitaro, told the media that he was open to let him try to buy the idea of the series to another network or streaming service.
It now seems that the whole project is dead in the water, and no sequence will never be seen.
