Ukraine’s Zelensky Releases Latest Conditions, but He May Have to Give Up Donbas – RedState
It is not difficult to understand the reluctance of Ukraine to separate even from a square thumb of its land in exchange for a peace agreement. I would not want to abandon the Kenai peninsula for a peace agreement with Russia, or even give up chicken to obtain a peace agreement with Canada. But after the Alaska summit on Friday between President Trump and President Putin, there seems to be at least the bones of a peace agreement, an agreement that would stop murder, and Putin apparently hollows out in his heels to maintain not only Crimea, but also the Donbas region.
The president of Ukraine, Zelensky, reiterates his state according to which Ukraine will not concede any land for peace. But this is an option that might not be on the table.
Ukrainian President Zelensky said on Sunday that he would be “impossible” for kyiv to give in the territory to Russia and reiterate his call to an immediate ceasefire.
Speaking since the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels before his planned assiet with President Donald Trump in the United States on Monday, Zelensky seemed ready to maintain his maximalist position towards war with Russia, and apparently officially shot the Moscow territorial gains in exchange for a peace agreement.
“Putin has many requests, but we do not know them all. And if there is really as much as we have heard, it will take time to cross them all. It is impossible to do so under the pressure of arms. So, it is necessary to ceasefire and work quickly on a last agreement,” said the Ukrainian president.
The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will also be in the meeting of the White House alongside President Zelensky on Monday, and she sends encouraging notes to the Ukrainian chief:

It seems that many European leaders are heading for Washington on Monday, although it is not clear how many of them will be included in any meeting between President Trump and President Zelensky.
The Chancellor (German) Merz is one of the European leaders who declared on Sunday that they intended to join Zelensky during his trip to Washington for interviews with President Trump, perhaps by concern of a rewritten potential of the disastrous meeting of the oval office in February when Trump expelled Zelensky from the White House after a public confrontation.
The other leaders who will join the delegation will include British Prime Minister Starmer, French President Macron, Italian Prime Minister Meloni, Finnish President Stubb, NATO secretary general, Mark Rutte, and the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
It’s a lot of power. What remains to be seen is the quantity of other things associated with horses can be present.

There seems to be a binary solution here. Ukraine has lost Crimea; It is impossible to see a scenario where Russia does not keep this territory. Donbas could well be the bonding point and what options is it? To abandon the donbas, or continue to fight, continue to demand the United States and Europe, pay millions of dollars and euros in the aid? Donbas can be the peace prize. It may be the agreement on the table. And, in the end, the United States and the other nations of Europe will not have much to say about it; Everything will come to Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.
It’s not only, and it’s not good. But it may be the agreement that can be concluded. At least it will end all murders. And the resulting peace can be an alarm clock for Europe, that the Tsar Vladimir I is always an attacker, always has ambitions to establish a new Russian empire, and that the nations of Europe would do better to be cohesion of their excrement.
