NASA Astronaut Zena Cardman – NASA

NASA astronaut, Zena Cardman, inspects the wrist mirror of her space combination in this portrait taken at the NASA Space Center in Houston on March 22, 2024. Cardman will be launched at the International Space Station as part of the NASA SpaceX Crew-11 mission. It will be its first space flight.
Cardman was selected by NASA as a member of the 2017 “Turtles” astronauts class. The native of Virginia holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in marine sciences from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. His research has focused mainly on geobiology and geochemical cycling in underground environments, from caves to sediments in the deep sea. Cardman’s experience includes several Antarctic expeditions. Since the initial training, Cardman has supported station operations in real time and planning the exploration of the lunar surface.
