Atlanta – Joe Greters, senator from the state of Florida and current treasurer of the National Republican Committee, was elected for the new president of the RNC.
During the RNC summer meeting on Friday in downtown Atlanta, Gruuters was unanimously elected by members to replace Michael Whatley, which takes place by the approval of President Trump for the open race of the US Senate in North Carolina.

“Today is not one person,” said Gruuters. “This is our mission. The mid-term is ahead where we have to extend our majority to the Chamber and the Senate and continue to elect Republicans nationally, then we walk more towards the presidential election, where the issues could not be higher.”
Gruteters has played practically all types of role in republican policy in the past two decades, from local volunteer to the presidency of the Florida Republican Party at the head of the GOP national organization at a time when his power is near his Zenith.
David Bossie, a national republican committee in Maryland and Longtime Trump Ally, said at the summer meeting that Greters is the best choice to lead the party.
“As President of the Florida Republican Party, Joe has proven what daring and disciplined leaders can accomplish,” said Bossie. “He widened our basic army, overthrew the registration of voters and delivered an uninterrupted chain of victories from top to bottom of the ballot. This is not an accident.”
The election of gruters also highlights the growing influence of the Republicans of Florida within the National Party and the Administration, in particular the chief of staff of the White House Susie Wiles and the former Senator of Florida, Marco Rubio, as Secretary of State.

Trump asked Whatley to take care of the RNC at the beginning of 2024, replacing Ronna McDaniel and leading the party through a successful electoral cycle in 2024 which saw the voters send Trump to the White House and the Republicans have control of the Senate and hold the house with a razor margin.
In 2025, Trump’s control over the party was not stronger, because the president widened the use of executive action and the congress sold a large part of his power over federal expenses and surveillance. This swing also extends to the RNC, where Trump has approved Gruuters to be the next leader.
According to the latest campaign financing files, the RNC has more than 84 million dollars in cash, which party leaders attribute to the management of Whatley and to the work of the Vice-President Vance as president of the RNC finance.

In comparison, the National Democratic Committee has around $ 15 million at hand while the party seeks its leadership after last year’s defeat.
Even with the chefs of the RNC flush, the party faces a difficult battle before mid-term of 2026, where the ruling party generally loses seats while voters express dissatisfaction with the administration.
Surveys show that many parts of Trump’s domestic policy program are unpopular to voters, including the administration’s signature policy program, “One Big Beautiful Bill”, which extends Trump’s first mandate for the first mandate and considerably increases expenses in application of immigration while reducing investments in health care and other social security programs.
