Russian ‘War Hero’ Busted for Faking Wounds, Collecting Cash – RedState

Merriam-Webster defines the “paper tiger” like “… the one that is externally powerful or dangerous but internally weak or ineffective”. One could easily apply this to the one who claims to be a great war hero, who claims great exploits on the battlefield, and who is discovered later as fraud.
Example: a supposed hero of the Russian army, a sniper known as “Le execution”, turned out to be complete fraud. His professional mistakes have even extended to the conspiracy with other soldiers to get out of the fight and perceive advantages.
There is a word for men like this, but I will not repeat it here.
One of the heroes of the most decorated battlefield in Russia was exposed as the alleged brain of a cheeky fraud program in which elite soldiers would have fired – and even their own commander – to perceive lucrative payments of battle injury, according to local relationships.
Investigators allege that Lieutenant -Colonel Konstantin Frolov – nicknamed “the executioner” for his skills as a sniper – not only manufactured his heroic actions, but also helped his troops to siphon nearly $ 2.5 million in a radical military fraud system, according to the Russian newspaper Kommers.
The point of sale said that a former brigade commander, Artem Gorodilov, was also involved in the case.
At least 35 officers of the Russian elite unit, the prestigious air assault brigade of the 83rd separate guards, would have been released from combat and collected nearly $ 40,000 each, reported the point of sale.
It is a lot of fraudulent injuries, which wonders to what extent this practice is widespread in the Russian army.
Frolov was venerated throughout the three -year war of President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine, boasting of surviving five minor injuries and two serious, reported Kommersant, adding that his alleged bravery earned him four “orders of courage” from Russia – as well as two additional medals for the value.
Investigators now allege that these injuries have been staged. Frolov finally admitted that he had ordered his soldiers to deliberately draw him, ensuring that the bullets were missing his vital organs, according to the Russian report.
Well, it’s certainly a whole new turn on the term “Russian roulette”.
Although it is a betrayal of the other soldiers of these men, their chain of command and their country, we cannot prevent ourselves from note that it is also a sign of morale declining in the Russian army. The Russo-Ukraine War has been dragging on for years now, there is no sign of immediate end, and the regular soldiers of the Russian (and Ukrainian) army must feel terribly exhausted and puts at the moment.

Many of these men probably had grandfathers and great grand-grandfills who fought like lions in the Red Army in the Great Patriotic War-World War II. (We should draw a large brilliant line between the basic soldiers who fought with great courage in this war and the communist leaders of the Soviet Union.).
Frolov and his co-conspirators could hardly do anything more to shame these veterans, these men who stormed and fought in Berlin, that by simulating injuries to collect money. But there is this: we can only imagine what will be the consequences of this fraud and this cowardice, in Russia of the Tsar Vladimir I. Whatever the form that this punishment takes, it is certain to be hard and ruthless. This is something that the Russians have always been very good.
