Former GOP Rep Flores says Texas map helps Hispanic representation

EXCLUSIVE: The former representative Mayra Flores, the generation of the generation of generation who upset a democrat in the border district in the middle of the border crisis of Biden, said that the redistribution of Texas is anything but depriving itself of minority voters as claimed by its criticisms.
“Four of the five new districts are in fact Hispanic majority districts. And, remember, in the previous map, the largest complaint of the Democrats was that the Hispanics were not well represented,” Flores, who was considering returning to the Congress in 2026, in Fox News Digital.
Flores said that beyond the song about the redistribution of mid-December, complaints from the left concerning the new district lines are caused only by political concerns.
“They are turned upside down because these Hispanics – these are conservative Hispanics – voted for President Trump. This card is in fact more a representation of what Texas is today,” said Flores, who was born in Tamaulipas, which is now one of the most violent Mexican states in terms of cartel. It directly attracts its origin district.

In 2024, 12 of the 14 Texas border counties overturned the red and opted for President Donald Trump, partly because of these concerns – including one who had not become a republican since 1912.
In 2022, Flores won a special election for the 34th district at the time, but then lost the seat against the representative Vicente Gonzalez during the next race.
“Conservative Hispanics contribute to the political landscape by supporting Republican candidates, policies; in particular on issues such as economic development, family values, religious freedom and, of course, border security,” she said.
She said that liberal interests have continued on current cards and that there is a sense of surprise at the number of Hispanics in Texas really supports border security and conservative policies.
Flores said that the Hispanics and the Latinos are not a homogeneous voting block for the left, also pointing to Florida, where Latinos and other minorities came out in large numbers for Trump – and where two American Cuban legislators, representatives of Maria Salazar and Carlos Gimenez of Miami -Dade are both Republicans.
Politicians must therefore seize the opportunity for such a redistribution to ensure that each district of the congress is representative proportionately to the political and ethnic composition of their state.

Critics underline New England – where no state currently has a republican member of the Congress, despite conservative pockets in places such as Massachusetts, Maine and Connecticut – as an excellent example.
On the other hand, the Democrats castigated the redistribution of the decennial environment as a capture of power orchestrated from afar by Trump.
Democrats and liberal voices, however, disagreed with Flores’ claims.
“The donation required. The legislature of Texas has respected.
The newspaper accused the Republicans of having directly “diluted” the Latin and black representation in the new card by “wrapping them in the districts where they have more majority than necessary to gain the representation of these seats” or “dispersing them in several districts where they lack figures to have their say in who are their representatives”.

With other Democrats, the newspaper also referred to the merger of the new map of representatives Lloyd Doggett and Gregorio Casar in the same district of limits near Austin.
Casar is a member of the Millennium “Squad” and Doggett is, conversely, the oldest member of the State delegation. Doggett said last week that he will no longer run if she faces Casar.
Casar told NPR that the new card is trying to “silence the voices of my voters and get people out of the congress”, adjusting the lines of the Austin region – and said that it violates the law on voting rights.
In addition, the county of Bexar, which includes San Antonio, went about 55-45 for the former vice-president Kamala Harris, but also includes the representative Chip Roy, R-Texas, among his political ranks. The county would see an increase in proportional representation for the Republicans, according to reports.

In California, which is half the half democratic and independent left, only nine of the 52 Congress districts are held by the Republicans. In Maryland, legislators finally redrawn what a judge called a “broken wing pterodactyl” of a democratic district which included several non -contiguous pieces of Baltimore suburbs.
Flores said that Texas, Florida, California and New York deserve to be revisited on the basis of the Congress, if only for trends in the strong entrance to the first two of the last two states.
“We want to make sure that once again each district of the congress is a representation of the global state and that the criticisms say that that [Texas] The card silenced the votes of the minorities when four of the five of them that you map are in fact the Hispanic majority, “said Flores.
“Look, the Hispanics are turning to the Republican Party and will continue to support the Republican Party because the Democratic Party went so far to the left, and you would think that after 2024, they would have learned their lesson and they would come more in the middle,” said Flores.
“Let’s see what’s going on mid-term from 2026.”
