Kutter Crawford out for ’25; Cora cites off-field ‘accident’

Kutter Crawford had an outdoor “accident” which requires end -of -season surgery on his wrist on the right, said Boston’s Red Sox manager on Wednesday, adding that the 29 -year -old was nothing “irresponsible”.

“It’s not a great year for him,” said Cora. “… It’s just an accident.”

Crawford was sidelined all season by a right knee injury which he initially suffered in his third match of 2024, a season during which he went 9-16 with an MPM of 4.36 in 33 departures, tied for the most in the American League.

“It fears because we were talking about our depth in training in the spring and the options we had in the starting rotation,” said Cora before the series of the series against the Los Angeles Angels. “And now it becomes more and more thin.”

Crawford was one of the most sustainable launchers in baseball in 2024 despite the launch of most of the season with discomfort of the ballot tendons, leading the Red Sox with 183 ⅔ launched sleeves and 175 stick withdrawals, but it also abandoned 34 circuits to a top of the major leagues.

He hoped to recover with a full winter of rest and rehabilitation, but suffered a setback during the offseason and did not draw in training in the spring. He was placed on the 60 -day injured list in March.

Cora also said that the third goal player Alex Bregman, who has been released since May 23 due to a quadriceps injury, will probably only come back after the stars break.

Bregman, which struck .299 with a .938 OPS, 11 circuits, 17 doubles, 35 products produced and 32 points in 51 games when he suffered the injury, worked but did not resume baseball activities.

Bregman agent Scott Boras told Boston Globe on Tuesday that his client, who could withdraw from his contract and become a free agent after this season, is open to re-signature with the Red Sox.
