West Side man charged with attempted murder after freight-train yard burglary.

A man from Garfield Park was charged on Friday morning two charges of attempting to murder two police officers following a burglary attempt in a freight courtyard in Englewood, the authorities announced.
Barry Hayes, 32, was accused of two managers of attempted murder, two leaders of criminal damage to government property between $ 500 and $ 10,000 and a aggravated battery manager to an officer. He was also accused of serious assaults towards an officer and a chief of leaving an accident causing an injury, police said.
The numerous accusations arise from a Wednesday morning incident in Bloc 5800 by South Shields Avenue when several people tried to rob a court of goods in the Englewood district.
Hayes was identified as the person driving a SUV in the South Princeton Avenue block 5800 and accelerated by hitting an officer. Police said he then continued to responded to the police with a squad vehicle.
He was arrested on the scene.
Hayes was to appear on Friday during a detention hearing.
