Bones were found near a Mountain Cascade campsite in the middle of manhunt for the 33 -year -old man suspected of having killed his three young girls, the FBI announced on Friday.

The campsite near Leavenworth, Washington, is the location of the discovery of the bodies of the three daughters of Travis Decker, Paitact, 9; Evelyn, 8; and Olivia, 5 years old, June 2.

The bones are analyzed to determine if they are human, the FBI spokesperson for Seattle, Ted Halla said on Friday.

“We can confirm that some bones have been collected as part of the research activity earlier in the week around the Rock Island campsite,” he said by email.

Earlier this month, the office said that DNA of plastic bags found on girls’ heads corresponded to that of the father, and that no other human DNA in addition to own girls was found. The County Legalist concluded that the girls died by suffocation and are the victims of homicide, said the sheriff’s office.

After the discovery of their bodies, the local, state and federal authorities launched a great manhunt for Decker, fearing to be able to use its military history and its outdoor experience to disappear.

The Decker pick-up was also found nearby, on land described by the County Sheriff’s Bureau of Chelan as “rugged and highly wooded terrain”, about 150 miles east of Seattle.

Decker was accused of three heads of first degree and first degree abduction murder and is the subject of an arrest warrant.

On May 30, his ex-wife reported that Decker had not returned the girls after a planned visit, the authorities announced. The report was not enough to trigger an Amber alert, said Washington State Patrol, noting that a late return is not necessarily a kidnapping and that there was no imminent threat of violence.

Investigators said the reason was not clear. The documents filed by the State, Decker, refused to sign a parental plan almost a year ago which included prescriptions for the search for mental health treatment and advice in anger management.

On Monday, the Sheriff of the County of Chelan Michael L. Morrison described the search for two days evidence near the campsite on federal lands which started on Monday and attracted around 100 police officers, deputies and federal agents.

“In the past three months, the survey teams, led by the Sheriff’s office inquiry, have continued each advance and excavated with large remote areas in the hope of locating Travis Decker or any proof that could bring us closer to the answers,” Morrison said in a statement.

The sheriff has repeated that it is not clear if Decker is alive.

“Currently, no conclusive evidence has been found to indicate whether Travis Decker is alive or deceased,” he said. “We continue to follow each credible advance.”
