Trenton man shot while driving dies after hitting pedestrian, cop car

A New Jersey man died after being killed by driving, making him crush his car in a pedestrian and a police patrol, the authorities announced on Saturday.
Andrew Coates, 41, led near the avenues North Olden and Ohio to Trenton when he was shot late Friday evening, according to the County prosecutor’s office in Mercer.
The authorities responded to the region around 11:25 pm, after receiving an “activation of the shooting observers” for several shots in the region.
The officers who were already patrolling in Trenton were the first to arrive at the scene, officials said. But one of these vehicles was hit by the coats car when he “lost control” after being shot.
Coates also struck a pedestrian before his vehicle ends finally.
Coates was urgently transported to the Régional Medical Center Health Capital, where he was declared dead a few hours later, prosecutors said.
Two police officers were sent to the hospital for injuries not putting their life in danger and should recover completely. The male pedestrian who touched coats was also treated, although the extent of his injuries was not clear.
While the detectives were in the hospital, a fourth person, who was shot in the leg in the middle of chaos, also arrived for treatment. He would have been in a stable state on Saturday.
The authorities said two unoccupied vehicles and a residence on Indiana Avenue had also been struck by gunshots. No one inside the house was injured.
On Saturday afternoon, no arrest was made and no suspects had been identified. We do not know what could have caused the shooting.
