Pennant Chases, American League Style
Greetings of the sports office somewhere under the main bridge of the good red pirate ship. With the days of August dogs now almost entirely in our rear view mirror, let’s see what Sammy the shark and Karl the kraken are at:

Anyway, a look at baseball is suggested. Someone, somewhere, would have said once the pennant races do not really start before the Labor Day, which is undoubtedly a surprise for the various teams and players who have faced themselves since April or earlier. However, the beginning of September serves as a practical guidance point from which to measure how these teams who wish to play deep in October end.
From the junior circuit, in the American West League, there is a race for three for the Crown of Division between the Astros of Houston (of course), the Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers. The latter have led a hot sequence lately, pulling in the two and a half games of the second place in Seattle, which themselves has two Houston games. The Astros still have six games, three at home and three, against the Rangers and three at home against the navy. Seattle and Texas are not faced in September. In a side note, Cal Raleigh, the receiver of the Navy, is the best player in baseball that you do not know exists because he plays next to the bad ocean.
The American League Central has finished everything, with the exception of the distribution of champion t-shirts in the Detroit Tigers, which, at the time (August 31, 2025), have the third best baseball record. The Blue Jays have the most difficult road in October, with a single opponent (Baltimore) decidedly less than 0,500. In comparison, Seattle made four games against the angels, three against the brave and three against the Rockies – at home, no less. I prefer to be a sailor that a bird next month.
