Matthew Stafford will start in the quarter-Arrière and the plan is for Alaric Jackson to start in the left tackle Sunday during the opening of the season against Houston’s Texans at the Sofi stadium, Rams coach Sean Mcvay said on Monday.

Stafford, 37, has practiced the last few weeks after being seated at the training camp and several weeks due to a back problem.

“It will be good,” to start against the Texans, Mcvay said during a videoconferencing with journalists after the RAMs finished a non-cuffing practice that was closed to the media.

Jackson, who signed an extension of $ 35 million in March, practiced on Monday for the first time since he received a diagnosis of blood clots in the legs in June. Jackson did individual exercises with trainers and had participated with beginners in jogging.

“He gained the right to be in the position, where you pay it – it was a high priority for us to recover it,” said Mcvay. “He did everything ready to go. It was always the final goal in mind – it’s being ready to go against Texans.”

After Jackson was diagnosed with blood clots for the second time in his career – he also dealt with the problem in 2022 – the RAMs signed the Vétéran DJ Humphries. Warren McClendon Jr. and David Quesenberry are other plated who could play in front of the right tackle Rob Havenstein if Jackson is injured, limited or in difficulty.

But Mcvay seemed optimistic that the Rams would continue to manage Jackson’s state and that it would be ready for Sunday.

“He took great care of himself, and he got into a rare position in which I think I intervene and play a good clip,” said Mcvay, adding: “There is nothing like playing real football … but [Monday] It was a big step in the right direction.
