A man in South Africa is expressed to have to “fight to survive” after being attacked by two hyenas while remaining in a natural reserve for a bachelor.
On Saturday August 30, Nicolas Hohls, 27, who lives in Strydgewon Farm in Harburg, Kwazulu -Natal, arrived in the Cape Vidal nature reserve in Sainte -Lucie, in South Africa – which he had visited since the age of 6 – just before noon with his father, Colin, ready for start celebrations.
Hohls and a few friends caught during the day and had food and a few beers that evening before going to bed tired, after the work of the week, around 1 hour, local time.
About half an hour later, he said that two hyenas attacked him after one entered his tent by a 6-inch gap which he had left for ventilation.
One of the two animals ended up with part of Hohl’s head inside his mouth, with his tight jaws around his cheek and skull, while the other tight on his left ankle.

“One went to get my leg and the other for my face and my head. I beat them by tearing my face and ankle, then attacking the eyes of one and forcing my hand in the throat of the other,” said Hohls to the people of the attack.
“I had slept … When I realized what was going on, it was a pure instinct. I knew that I had to fight to survive,” he added, saying to people, “I reacted immediately. I was torn and went directly to their weak points-eyes and throat. It was all instinct and adrenaline.”

Hohl’s cries woke up his father, who was in the roof tent above him.
“My father took action immediately. He found me in a pool of blood in my tent, put me in the car and led me directly to the Ballito hospital,” he said to people.
Insisting that he had zipped his tent “in the same way” that he “had done several times before,” said Hohls, “I camped in vidal before without problems. That night, I left a little gap for ventilation. If the hyenas wanted to enter, they would have found a way despite everything, and that is exactly what happened.”
He said that the “fight lasted about 60 seconds” and was “a minute of hell”, in an article he wrote to remember the incident, that he shared with people by e-mail.

Hohls now focuses on improvement, telling people that doctors have said that complete recovery would take “about a month”.
“I had about 30 stitches in my head, hand and cheek. My left ankle and right thigh also have deep puncture wounds, but fortunately, no bone was broken,” he notes.
“I do much better … doctors are satisfied with my progress, and there was no sign of infection”, shares Hohls.
“For the moment, it is a question of resting and allowing my body to heal properly,” he said to people, adding that it is “very grateful to be alive” and that it “had the strength to retaliate” when it did.
The Cape Vidal nature reserve did not react immediately when contacted by people to comment on the attack.
