The UK’s largest energy supplier has created its own EV charger

The largest energy supplier in the United Kingdom, Octopus Energy, launches its own EV charger. The octopus load is designed to associate with the price of the intelligent GO octopus, which offers cheaper electricity rates overnight for the EV load.
Octopus Energy designed and built its own EV charger and supports it with a three -year warranty. There is an attached option of £ 999 (approximately $ 1,300) with a 5 -meter cable or a version of £ 899 (about $ 1,200) that you can use with any cable you want. These prices are largely in line with the other EV chargers once you take into account the installation costs, but the octopus costs will be tempted for Octopus customers because it is installed and supported entirely by Octopus.
Octopus made a name for itself in the United Kingdom using green energy to reduce electricity costs in the United Kingdom. Brand rates for electricity in the United Kingdom have skyrocketed in recent years, and Octopus offers variable prices every 30 minutes on its agile Octopus rate or the intelligent octopus Go option which allows owners of EV loads of 6 hours of inexpensive energy every evening at 7p per kWh – or 9 cents per kWh. I have been using Octopus to get free electricity for a few years now.
If you are not with Octopus, the Octopus load is not as attractive, unless you are ready to change. Although this EV charger looks like an easy way to lock Octopus customers for life, if you decide to leave the supplier, it will be compatible with other energy suppliers in the United Kingdom. “Ideally, this supplier would have its own charge point protocol platform (OCPP) to be able to control the charger directly,” explains the spokesperson for Octopus, Christina Hofmann, in an email to The penis. “It is also possible to change the charger into plug and load mode, with planning via the EV, in case the supplier is not equipped with its own OCPP platform.”
There are also many other EV chargers that can be integrated into the intelligent Octopus Go rate, but the own version of Octopus will make this integration much simpler and easy to use. Octopus controls third -party chargers via vehicle or charger APIs, which can sometimes be problematic.
Octopus says that its EV charger will be available for most electric vehicle drivers to buy later this year, and the company is currently offering early access to those who rent a car via its Octopus electric vehicle system. Anyone can record their interest on the Octopus website.
