I Tried It: Dyson’s Newest Stick Vac Empties So Neatly, I Could Do It in Bed
Dyson is one of the manufacturers of the best known wireless vacuum cleaners, and its vacuum cleaners of the V series are flagship models which generally win the best grades of our tests. With strong aspiration and innovations, including detection of dust, the best dyson vacuum cleaners can generally be counted to bring something new to the table.
I got in my hand with the Dyson V16 Animal Piston (there is also an underwater variant), the most recent wireless vacuum cleaner of the company which should be launched in the United States in 2026. It offers the high-end cleaning capacities that we expect in Dyson, but I left the most impressed by its new system of compression and ejection of unique dust.
What’s new with the piston animal V16
The Piston V16 is an elegant wireless vacuum cleaner with blue and yellow accents that give it a little flair.
Unlike the light and portable pencil, which I also tested, the V16 is intended to be the most powerful wireless vacuum of the company to date. It has a 900 -watts hyperdymium engine with 315 watts of suction power air and a single dust dust dyson calls the cleancomompaktor.
Similar to the compact trash can on the pencil dyson, the animal v16 compresses the debris in the trash when you aspire, keeping the suction force and solid cleaning performance. It does it by giving you a small red lever that you can push periodically to compact the dust. It is a more manual process than the penonvac, which uses a lining separation system, but it worked as well when I used animal V16 to suck up dirt and debris at the Soho store in Dyson.

“While vacuum cleaners fill, the fine dust filter and the HEPA filter begin to accumulate dust,” said Tim Hare, design engineer in Dyson. “This restricts the air flow and reduces the suction. A good vacuum cleaner extends the time before this happens and completely recovers the suction when the filters are cleaned. Dyson recommends regularly emptying the tank, before dust levels reach the maximum line, to maintain optimal suction and cleaning performance.”
This is something that is true for each vacuum cleaner, but the compression trash cans on the animal and piston pencil V16 are the first of whom I heard about which incorporate a compact characteristic of the trash on a wireless vacuum. Similar technology exists on robot vacuum cleaners, where Roomba Dustcomompactor 205 in Irobot (which obtained a place on our best list of robot vacuum vacuums for its reasonable price and solid performance) uses a mechanical paddle to compress dust in its trash can.
The new dust trash ejection system changes the situation
The V16 automatically adjusts the suction and brushing speed depending on the type of flooring.
This technology also allows the Piston V16 to hold up to 30 days of dust, and the trash is frightened when the drain mechanism is used, therefore no dust, hair or other debris should not be left behind the bin walls.
This is one of my biggest reproaches with the most wireless vacuum cleaners. The way the trash is designed, there are often red swamps or debris that hang on to a corner or corners, forcing you to reach your hands or a brush to remove things. It is disgusting, is made of dust everywhere and is generally the worst vacuum cleaner. Dyson seems to have finally solved this problem. It was the easiest dust garbage garbage session I have ever had, approaching the automatic speed docks with ease of use.
There are also some other changes of “quality of life” that Dyson stressed me that can solve some of the main problems I encountered when using older Dyson models. On the one hand, the trigger that you had to stay in a hurry for the vacuum cleaner disappeared. Now, it is a simple pressing button, which is a boon for those of us who had to make cleaning sessions of 30 minutes or more. There is also a soft cushion where your hand grabs it, which, according to Dyson, should reduce muscle fatigue.

All the cleaner heads are also easy to detach by simply putting your foot on your head and pulling up, allowing you to detach yourself and fix without having to look. Interestingly, a certain number of attachments are also integrated into the void, including a crevasse cleaning tool, so you can clean without having to transport additional attachments, although you get several inclusive.
Use of the Piston animal Dyson V16 to clean
Returning to specifications, the piston animal is delivered with 315AW, which gives it 50% more cleaning power according to Dyson. For reference, detection V15, which is one of our best choices, at 240AW, which should be a fairly important lightness. I used the vacuum cleaner in the Soho store in Dyson, testing it on a mixture of hardwood floors and low -battery carpets and I found that it worked very well to pick up everything that was launched.

Like previous detection models, the Piston V16 animal has a green LED dust characteristic that facilitates the discovery of dirt and debris, so I had no problem with missing stains. You also get a HEPA filter in five steps, 70 minutes of battery life with swapple battery packs and compatibility with the MyDYSON application which allows you to monitor the filter and other parameters.
The cleaner head, which consists of two conical brush bars (similar in pencil, which integrates four), has improved the anti-dialing capacity. The design automatically prevents the hair from wrapping it by migrating the hair from the thicker end of the cone in the middle to reach the thinner external end of the cone, where it is sucked in the trash. I could not test this feature in the store, but I hope to try it at home with my three cats and my wife with curly hair.
The V16 Piston Animal also works with the new submarine head which offers damp and dry cleaning.
In particular, the vacuum cleaner is also delivered with intelligent features, with the new brush head with a sense of floor cones by detecting and automatically adapting the type of soil. It not only adjusts suction but also speed of rotation, slowdown in hard floors and speed on the carpet for better cleaning. I looked at this work almost immediately when I passed hard wooden panels at the carpet. It was noticeable to look at the speed and resistance increase when additional cyclones were activated.
Dyson describes the new cleaner head as a combination of higher cleaning capabilities of the digital motorcycle and the dust capacity of the soft optical cleaning heads. There is also a new underwater head that adds damp and dry cleaning capacities to dyson. I could not use it, but it comes with a 300 millililitre water tank which, according to Dyson, should be able to clean 1,180 square feet.
Price and availability
The display shows the amount of time that remains on the life of your battery and your suction.
The price of the V16 Piston Animal and the V16 Piston Animal Submarine is not yet known, but the two will be available in the United States from 2026. The pencil should also be released at the same time.
