Jasmine Crockett Won’t Sugarcoat the Mess We’re In

Crockett, however, is deeply in the fight when we speak. His main concern is not the potential impact on his own political power, but something much larger. The fight in Texas, in his mind, is yet another canary of the coal mine which indicates how much we slide towards authoritarianism.
“I am concerned about the people I serve,” she says. “I am worried not to have the representation to which they are entitled, the representation they thought of obtaining. I’m worried.
But while the fight of the Democrats of Texas ultimately failed to change the result of the redistribution, they were victorious in another powerful way. Inasmuch as New York Times OP-ED said, “They lost, but they lost hard.” Their fight has become a famous cause for the left, with powerful Democratic governors like the Gavin Newsom of California and JB Pritzker of Illinois joining the cause and many encouraging them.
It was exactly the type of movement that many democratic voters pleaded with their elected officials to do, often in vain. Crockett shares their frustrations.
“Democrats are still not equipped for the fight that has come to our doors,” she said about her colleagues at the Congress. “We always want to believe in the rule of law. We always want to believe that there are rules to play. But every passing day, [Trump]”He breaks new rules, breaking new laws, breaking new standards, all in the name of power.”
She does not know what else will take to demonstrate to her colleagues that respecting the rules is no longer an option.
“I think it is very clear that, whatever the amount of lipstick that you put on these ugly pigs of invoices that it passes, they will always be pigs and [Republicans] Knowledge and they don’t want to be responsible, “she said.” They cheat. And I don’t know that the Democrats are really ready to walk with a bunch of Scumbag cheaters. »»
I ask him the question that so many people on social networks are screaming perpetually with regard to this problem – why? Why do so many democratic representatives insist on sticking to the decorum, at the tip of the fingers instead of, as Crockett says, focusing on the house on fire?
It’s quite simple, she thinks. For any reason, many of his peers are not ready to meet the moment. When it comes to looking the threat in the eye, they hesitate. They continue to believe that if they are models for what a “good” politician looks like, the Republicans will make the tail.
“They don’t recognize that [Republicans] would laugh less, “she said.” That the Republicans decided that their model was a condemned criminal of 34 chiefs who is and was held responsible for sexual abuse. »»
She adds: “It’s crazy. It’s crazy. So I mean, whoever tries to act as if we have to do our job, and which seems to be sitting here, is really delusional.”
