Connecticut teen wanted for murder arrested in Alabama

A Connecticut teenager was arrested in Alabama as part of the deadly man of a 24 -year -old man in Manchester last month, authorities announced on Thursday.

Zion Smith, 16, is charged as an adulthood on murder leaders, falsification of physical evidence, wearing a dangerous weapon and the illegal discharge of a firearm, said Lieutenant Nicholas Reiner of the Manchester police department in a press release.

According to Reinert, Manchester police were sent to the Irving and Woodland street intersection in the early hours of May 20 following a vehicle report on the side of the road with an insensitive driver.

The police arrived to find a male victim sitting in the driver’s seat. Despite rescue efforts, the driver, later identified as Jordan Patterson of Windsor Locks, was declared dead on the scene.

Reinert said the victim died of a single ball injury to the chest.

A complete investigation led by Manchester police, in coordination with local and federal agencies, Smith revealed as the suspect. The authorities obtained an extractable arrest warrant for the teenager, which was then located in Alabama and then extradited to Connecticut.

Smith has since been treated and transported to Hartford for minors in detention. He was to be arrested on Thursday, said Reinert.
