Sky coach explains why Angel Reese did not play in second half after first-half suspension vs. Aces

The Chicago Sky star, Angel Reese, was only suspended for the first half of the defeat of 80-66 of his team against the Aces of Las Vegas on Sunday, but ended up sitting the whole match. The sky announced that Reese was faced with a back injury that coach Tyler Marsh said she noted in pre-match warming.
“She pointed out to us during the pre-match, and therefore in conjunction with the medical staff, we wanted to be as cautious as possible,” said Marsh.
Reese missed 10 games with a back injury earlier this season, but returned to action on August 19 and had played every game since then until Friday, when she was suspended for having accumulated too many technical faults. Marsh said that Reese “wanted to be there” for the last two games in the sky, but the team “will assess [her status] day after day. ”
The back of Reese Flare Up crowned a chaotic week for the second year star.
Early Wednesday, the Chicago Tribune published an interview with Reese in which it disseminated its frustrations with the front office, the coaches and the construction of the alignment. She called for major movements in the free agency and hinted when her contract is underway in 2027 if she does not see the changes she wants.
“I am not satisfied with the same shit that we have done this year,” said Reese. “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. It is a non -negotiable for me.”
In addition, Reese made comments on specific teammates, including the veteran playmaker and the Courtney Vandersloot franchise icon, which has been sidelined since June 7 with a torn LCA.
“We cannot count on Courtney to return to the age when she is,” said Reese. “I know that she will be an excellent asset for us, but we cannot count on this. We need someone probably a little younger with some experience, someone who has played the game and is ready to compete for a championship and has already done so.”
Marsh said heaven would manage the situation “internally”.

Later Wednesday, Reese took his eighth technical fault of the season For having struck Aaliyah Edwards in the head during a box situation in the victory of the sky on Connecticut Sun.
After victory over the sun, Reese apologized to his teammates And said his comments were “out of context”.
“I don’t think I’m frustrated. I’m probably frustrated by myself,” said Reese. “I think that the language came out of its context and I really did not want to deposit my teammates because they crossed this with me throughout the year. They broke their ass how much I broke my ass, they showed up for me through thick and thin, and in the locker rooms when nobody could see anything.
“So I would apologize to my teammates, which I already have about the article and how it was misinterpreted on what was said. I just have to be better with my language because I know that it is not the message that it is the messenger and understand what I say maybe any kind. I must therefore be better and grow from that.”
On Thursday, WNBA announced that Reese would be suspended for the sky match against Indiana fever on Friday, a possible defeat of 97-77. Under WNBA rules, a player or a coach is automatically suspended without a salary for a match by receiving an eighth technical fault during the regular season. The previous limit was of seven techniques, but the league increased it to eight this season with the jump to a 44 -game calendar.
Friday, before loss of fever, The sky has announced that Reese would be suspended for the first half of the team’s match against the AS on Sunday “due to declarations prejudicial to the team”.
On Saturday, an interview that Vandersloot gave to the sky broadcast team before the match against the Sun appeared online. In the interview, Vandersloot responded to Reese’s comments on her age and said she would return to Chicago next season.
“Contrary to what people say or think, my age is absolutely not a factor. I come back,” said Vandersloot, 36. “I’m going to come back better than ever because that’s what I did. I got into position to come back and compete at this age.”
