The iPhone 17 Series Is Here, Including the iPhone Air
After months of rumors and speculation, Apple finally revealed the iPhone 17, the iPhone Air, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The promotion and the screen still arrive on the basic iPhone, and all the models get an improved front camera and other improvements.
This time, Apple abandoned the model more in favor of a special edition called iPhone Air, with mainly premium equipment wrapped in a super thin setting. The rest of the programming obtains the usual improvements from iPhone from one year to the next, such as updated cameras, new chipsets and other upgrades. The iPhone basic model also obtains more features previously limited to the pro series, so if you prefer the smaller and more affordable model, this could be the year of upgrade.
iPhone 17
The first is the basic iPhone, which especially has the same design and the same features as the iPhone 16 of last year, but with some upgrades expected for a long time. The screen is slightly larger at 6.3 inches (up 6.1 inches), but more importantly, it is Finally A promotion screen. As usual, a new chipset feeds the phone. The new A19 is built on a 3 -nanometers process, with performance improvements, electrical efficiency, neural engine treatment, etc. Improvements here is probably not revolutionary – Apple’s announcement compared the processor to the bionic chipset A15 in the iPhone 13 (a telephone from 2021) and said that the A19 was 50% faster. The GPU is “more than 2x” faster than that of the A15 Bionic, which is once again a phone four years ago. However, all this GPU power is more useful on a 120 Hz screen.
Apple has also developed a “N1” chipset for the iPhone 17 series, which is responsible for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. Apple says that it “improves the overall performance and the reliability of features such as the personal hotspot and the air tray”. Above all, it is not The Apple of Modem C1 used on the iPhone 16th, which managed cell connectivity in addition to other wireless functions. Apple may not be confident enough in its personalized modems to use them for all iPhone models, so there is another modem for cellular connectivity (probably from Qualcomm), with the N1 chip responsible for everything else.

The most recent addition to the Apple iPhone range offers new colors, the A19 chip and the N1 networking chip.
Finally, there is the usual mixture of camera updates. The most exciting improvement could be the 18 MP front camera, which now has a larger sensor and field of vision. This allows you to take photos of horizontal or vertical selfie without turning your phone, and it now has the same central feature as some Mac and iPad cameras oriented. The main rear camera is still 48 MP, but the ultra-large lens went from 12 MP to 48MP.

Air iPhone
The long -term special iPhone is finally real, and it’s just “the iPhone Air”, without number 17. It has a personalized titanium construction to reach only a size of 5.6 millimeters at its thinnest point. There is still a massive camera bump at the top of the phone, the lenses of the camera exceed even more than that, but part of the phone is super thin. The front and at the back both have a ceramic coating, which is a first for iPhones.
The rest of the equipment is somewhere between a basic iPhone and the iPhone 17 Pro. It has an A19 pro chipset with even faster CPU and GPU performance, a 6.5 -inch screen with promotion and a support always on a front camera on scene 18MP. The battery is smaller than the basic iPhone 17 – Apple promises “up to 27 hours of video playback” instead of 30 hours – and there is only one 48MP camera.

The iPhone 17 air is the new model to reach the flagship line of the iPhone, and its design is lighter and thinner than ever.
Interestingly, this phone combines the A19 Pro and N1 wireless chip with a new Apple “CX1” modem for cell connectivity. Compared to the C1 found in the iPhone 16th, it is “up to 2x faster” and uses “30% less energy overall”. It’s a bit weird to see the Apple mixture and the correspondence of wireless equipment on its iPhone models, but it probably opens the way to future iPhones to have wireless equipment all pair.
It remains to be seen if the air model will be a unique experience, as the iPhone X was in 2017, or if it will remain in future iPhone series. The Samsung thin subsidiary earlier this year, the Galaxy S25 Edge has not been so popular. Apple’s attempt could have a similar effect, but we will have to wait and discover.

iPhone 17 pro & pro max
Finally, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max arrived, for those of you who want a phone with all the bells and the whistles. The titanium framework of previous pro phones has been replaced by a new “thermally conductor aluminum monocoque”, by a “steam chamber designed by apple” to improve cooling.
The network of cameras is even larger this time, covering the entire width of the back of the phone. You get a main, ultra -wide and telephoto camera, all of which have 48 Mp sensors to provide “the equivalent of eight objectives”. The frontal 18MP front camera of the base and the air models is also on pro phones.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max has several of the same specifications as the iPhone 17 Pro, but you get a larger screen and up to 2 TB of storage.
Apple wrapped a 6.3 -inch screen on the iPhone 17 Pro, and a 6.9 -inch screen on the Pro Max, both of which have a promotion and 3000 nits of peak brightness. The Shield 2 ceramic coating protects both the front and the back of the phone, like iPhone air. Apple says that this guarantees “4x better resistance to cracks than the rear glass on the previous models”.
The pro and pro max are available in blue, orange and silver options. Each of them has a two -tone design – the rear housing under the bump of the camera is a different shade from that of the phone.
Price and availability
The iPhone 17 starts at $ 799 for the 256 GB model, which is fortunately the same price as the iPhone 16 last year. The iPhone air is $ 999 for the 256 GB storage option. The iPhone 17 Pro starts at $ 1,099 for 256 GB of storage, which is a price leap of $ 100 compared to last 16 pro. Finally, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is $ 1,119 with 256 GB of storage, just like the 16 Pro Max.
